My thoughts never leave the Crimean theme. I was sitting here reviewing photos from a hike in 2010, when we walked through the Grand Canyon of Crimea, and realized that not all of them were laid out, a report about the hike was great, it was necessary to write about many places and show them in photos. But in fact, this landmark is worthy of a separate article. Moreover, in order to see it it is not necessary to be a walker and go on a tourist trip. It is enough to take public transport and take a regular asphalt road from Simferopol (it is more difficult from Yalta) to get to the canyon. Of course, you will not pass it all, but it is not necessary
I remember when we walked with backpacks along the top of the canyonand somewhere in the middle of it came down to wander down the fancy stone grooves formed by water, we met a group of ordinary tourists in the flip flops and swimsuits that came from the very bottom. True, they were already decently tired and obviously it would be time for them to come back. I am sure they got no less impressions than us. So this is the natural attraction in the Crimea, which must be seen first.

Photo of the Grand Canyon of Crimea
Description of our hike in the Crimea at this link, and here are just photos of thecanyon. By the way, its length is more than 3 kilometers, the depth is about 300 meters, the width in some places is only 3 meters, and the age is close to two million years. Of course, to see all its beauty you need to go along the river bed to the end, that is, beyond Lake Blue and the Youth Bath. But even on this popular route there is something to see. Only it is best to go not after the rain and towards the end of the summer, when the water is blue and transparent and not so much.
The entire length of the canyon we passed only on top, andsomeday I would love to pass it along the channel. There, the truth is that partly swimming will have to “go”, because there are deep baths, which by no means will work out, and in some places you will need to climb, but this is even more interesting. You just need to think how camping backpack alloy.
How to get to the Grand Canyon in the Crimea
First you need to get to Crimeaso suppose you are already here and it remains only to find a canyon. The easiest way, of course, is to go to him by car (how to rent a car in the Crimea). But if you are not a driver at all, then it does not matter, I will tell you how to get to the Grand Canyon of Crimea in other ways. If you really do not want to think about the problems of transporting yourself to a place, then in any resort town you will be offered a trip to the Grand Canyon, but this option is not for independent travelers.
From Simferopol on the Sevastopol highway throughBakhchisarai and to the village of Sokolinoye can be reached by bus. There are also buses from Bakhchisarai to Sokolinoi. The entrance to the canyon is located three kilometers from the village of Sokolinoye (further along the road), they will need to go on foot. There are many cafes and shops, do not miss. But you can take a taxi in Falcon (this is not a problem), if you do not want to go.
There is no public transport from Yalta. But you can climb the Ai-Petri pass on the shuttle bus that goes to the lift. You need to get out on the highway near the turn on Ai-Petri to the lift. And then catch the car in the direction of the Grand Canyon. Here you can try hitchhike, and you can for money. The second, of course, faster and easier. Stop willingly.
The cost of visiting the Canyon is 40 UAH per adult, 20 UAH per child. This also includes a visit to the Silver Jets waterfall located on the other side of the road.
