Phaeng Waterfall - the best waterfall on Phangan in the national park Tan Sadet

Paeng Falls (or Pang / Paeng Falls on Phangan)- This is just one of several attractions within the official Tan Sadet National Park, which is located approximately in the center of the island, a little closer to Thong Sale. It is just on the way to the main road connecting Tong Salu and Chaloklum. The park takes up quite a lot of space. The mountainous part of the island, where rare plant species grow, has three waterfalls, a font and one good viewpoint “House of Strength” overlooking the south-western part of Phangan, Samui and the islands of Angthong Marina Park. In general, a leisurely visit to this place should be planned so that you have at least 1-2 free hours and a supply of water.

Phaeng waterfall

For a long time I was going to this waterfall, for some reason Iit seemed that it had been a long time for him to stomp and inspiration for trekking didn’t come at all. Therefore, almost on the last day of my stay on Pangan, I finally jumped in here in the evening with the expectation that “I will see what I have time”. In fact, everything turned out to be very compact and close by. The whole walk took me no more than an hour. It should be noted that I ran everywhere at a run, for me there is a special thrill about it - jumping along the path with its roots. Immediately, childhood is remembered, for where we just didn’t rush, and for what fence trees we just didn’t climb. Again, even the sport is such - running over rough and mountainous terrain. I do not pretend to be an athlete, but when you need to catch up before dark, why not.

So, the first waterfall Pang Noi (Phaeng Noi)located just 5 minutes walk from the parking. It is clearly visible and quite photogenic looks even from the place where the stella with the name is installed. But you can come closer and climb on the rocks near the water, which many tourists do.

To the next waterfall Pang Yai (Phaeng Yai)we have to walk another 100 meters upstream, you just have to walk a little bit along the path without any difficulties and difficult turns. On my arrival, a sign with a pointer to the waterfall was broken (or removed), so it was not entirely obvious that there was something interesting behind the trees. To see Pang Yai himself, you need to walk a little over the stones, which I did.

The third waterfall (Tham Nam Rak) is even higherand you already need to climb the concrete stairs. On the way, you will pass a fork where the path goes directly to the waterfall, and to the left - to the observation deck of Dom Sila. From the fork to the waterfall, you just have to walk a couple of minutes, and the waterfall itself turns out to be quite small. But there is a font in which you can splash. However, such fonts come across throughout the channel, and differ only in size and number of people who got to them. Throughout the route where these 3 waterfalls are located, you are unlikely to be left alone. Leave your thoughts swim naked or in cozy solitude - a lot of people walk along the trail in a season.

Viewpoint Dom Sila

On the way back after the third waterfallI recommend to go to the viewpoint. From a fork to climb about 10 minutes, no more, but the road is not very. More precisely, it is not even a road, not a staircase, but a natural trail, that is, a path with an intricate topography and various levels of complexity. However, if you do not have health problems, it will hardly be hard. But there, upstairs, offers a stunning view of the entire southern Phangan. A good place to relax a bit and sit on the edge, think about the eternal. Surprisingly, I came there almost at 6 pm, and people were sitting there, and, unlike me, they were not in a hurry at all and they were clearly not embarrassed by the prospect of going back down the dark.

Information to visit

Entrance to the park and parking are free, from 8 am to 5 pm, then the park is considered closed. At the entrance, I recommend to buy more water, because it is hot and humid in the jungle, and if you gather strength and climb the viewpoint, you will need water. You can swim in all reservoirs, but do not forget about the rules of decency in clothing - the place is visited by Thai tourists as well. If you really want to release the beast and relax in the nude style, then you should climb to the end of the trail, concrete and dirt. When it is over, in ten minutes jumps on the stones will begin the fonts, where onlookers do not come with cameras and where local expats like to hang out, who are dressed in a drum, what are you wearing.

P.S. Really nothing special, yes. But the waterfalls on Phangan - this is not his horse. Therefore, when compared with popular waterfalls Paradise and Wang Sai, then Paeng with his viewpoint is the best.
