The Temple of the Tiger Cave in Krabi - a million steps and stunning views

Interesting I got a trip to the TempleTiger Caves (Tiger Cave Temple), which is located near Krabi town. This temple is one of the most famous sights in Krabi, and I highly recommend it to you to visit. And if you are in a more or less normal physical form, then you can cover all 3 locations of this attraction at once. The fact is that in addition to the sitting Buddha at the very top of the mountain, there is still a temple in the cave below and a lost world with a settlement of monks, which you can skip and not notice.

If you are going to visit this temple, it is betterIt’s not all to plan this trip after some kind of physical exertion; I happened to be in the morning Trekking on Tube Kaek, and then only - a trip to the Temple of the Tiger. Barely mastered. Therefore, I recommend not to do so if you are not an athlete of any kind.

Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea)

I used to live in Krabi for several months, but howit usually happens, then I had a lot of work and I set aside all local sights for later. So then I had to specifically go to Krabi, for the sake of this temple. Believe it is worth it, very cool sight.

The full name is the Temple of the Tiger Cave. In Thai and in English, it is translated that way. But among the Russian-speaking this temple is often called the Temple of the Tiger. And I will also use this title in my article.

First of all, I must say that Tiger Cave itselfTempl is downstairs, its territory is huge and deserves a separate 30 minutes just to get around it and see better. Here you will find many interesting buildings of various sizes. For example, a pagoda has been built here for years, with donations and fees from souvenir trade. According to data from the Thai Internet, the height of the pagoda is 90.9 meters, and the width of the base is 58 meters. As I understand it, it will be the highest pagoda in Thailand, and the second tallest in Asia (after the Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar).

At the end of the territory, near the beginning of the stairs inthe lost world of Vanderland (I don’t know why the Thais called it the place where the monks live) - stands the temple of the Chinese goddess Kuan Yin with its gigantic statue.

Actually, the building of the Temple of the Tiger Cavelocated at the entrance to the area next to the parking lot, in a huge grotto, which was closed by an extension from the open side and it turned out quite decent size room. This cave was named proudly cave, which gave the name to this temple. Now there is a spacious place for gathering believers, and in one of the small caves inside the rock there is a room with a footprint of the Buddha.

Located between the Temple of the Tiger and the pagodapavilions of souvenir and amulets sellers, there is a consecrated model of the plane, several shops, a toilet, a lot of buildings of unknown purpose, and even an aviary for monkeys.

Khao Kaeo Ao Look Thanoo Pagoda

The main pleasure of the Temple of the Tiger - the rise ofthe stairs to the very top of the mountain, where the place for enlightenment is located, with a sitting Buddha and a small pagoda (Khao Kaeo Ao Look Thano). The plate at the base of the mountain says that 1237 steps await you, but in fact there are 1260 of them, now I will tell you why.

Climbing the ladder of enlightenment to the pagoda, I'm notI considered the exact number of steps, but on the way I came across a section where the old staircase was replaced with a new one. On the old one there were steps half a meter high, which were scary to look at, but on the new one already made humane steps of 10-15 centimeters, it was due to this replacement that the number of steps in general changed, and the final number was written by someone the last pillar.

The very setup on my rise happened onin the middle of the way, it began to rain and so strong that I was wet through, and by the time I climbed to the very top, I was completely frozen, despite 30 degrees and the tropics. But it's okay - because of the rain the fog sucked everything around, and I could not take pictures - only the silhouettes of the mountains could be seen, and not very far. And in good weather, everything is visible right up to the sea, I saw the pictures.

Many rise in this temple either at dawn, either at sunset; the view at the top is panoramic, so it is equally suitable for both cases. Therefore, if you have such a serious goal, I highly recommend this peak. I also want to add about the rain - I will not say unequivocally that it was bad that he went. Given the complexity of the climb (and it really is not easy), then choosing between a good view with heat or a bad view with rain - I do not even know which is better. In general, the rain wetted me, but did not upset me, and if I had a change of clothes and the opportunity to change my clothes at the top, then everything would be great at all.

Well, a series of shots

Well, a series of pictures "without words."

Despite the rain and fatigue after the morningtrekking, I got great pleasure and a lot of impressions, because I'm just a fan of various viewpoints and don't feed me with bread - let me climb higher and stare away. The only thing I wish the pictures were gray, and besides, because of the rain, it was not always possible to get a camera - it is not waterproof.

Settlement of monks (Wonderland)

If you look at the statue of Kuan Yin, then to the left ofYou will be the beginning of the stairs to the stone well, the lost world, it is also - the settlement of the monks of the temple. The staircase is laid through the passage between the rocks, and if I do not confuse anything, there is a little more than 100 steps in it to the smoking-room gazebo where tourists are resting. Down the same number of steps leads to a path. The trail runs along the perimeter of a stone well, whose walls are three hundred meters high, and the whole middle is overgrown with tropical trees.

All the fun is on the left.from the path until it starts to pick up to the right, along the wall. There is nothing to look further and you can walk purely out of curiosity, if you have time. Monks' houses are already 50 meters from the stairs. Some monks do not live in houses, but in caves and grottoes. The inhabitants of the grotto wall their walls with the door done in it, and someone continues to live in natural conditions, except that the ladders put the mink in order to climb was more convenient.

After the houses you will see a place for meditation andprayers, it is - hozblok. Here you have a kitchen, toilets, and laundry, and even your skeleton in the closet; I did not read whose it is and why it stands on a general review. But the color to the already seen, it all adds, do not take away. After the place for meditation there will be a number of caves, where the monks live and pray, but without capital buildings. After a huge tree with flat roots, I no longer climbed into the wilds, I was tired.

Information to visit

Entrance to the territory of the Temple of the Tiger in Krabi is absolutelyfree, the ascent to the Khao Kaeo Ao Look pagoda is open around the clock, but if you plan to climb or descend in the dark, it is better to grab a flashlight - the staircase is very steep and it is quite possible to turn around, there is no lighting.

In a good way, to inspect all the locations of Tiger CaveTemple need to set aside half a day if you want to do everything slowly. I would advise to go in good weather, to still enjoy the expanses and make beautiful photos without haze. On inspection of the Temple of the Tiger and the well with the monks will take 1-2 hours. Climbing a mountain with pagoda takes from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your physical fitness and the required number of breathers. I climbed for half an hour at an average pace and almost without resting, so consider. Descent is 2 times faster than your ascent. Upstairs need another half hour, at least, to see a lot and make a photo.

Be careful - a lot of monkeys, and below, and inrise time. They will easily snatch a food or bag / wallet from your hands. Therefore, it is better not to hold the food in your hands, and when you take pictures, hold the camera tightly and follow the perimeter with your peripheral vision.
