Ton Sai Beach - a party of rock climbers

The beach until recently, wild and hippie, ToneSai is now considered an expensive haven of climbers, yogis, syroyedov and rastamanov. There are still areas untouched by developers, but in March 2015, behind the central part of the beach, a grand building of a large hotel was deployed.

Felled trees heavy machinery, piled mountainsgarbage, plastic and building materials. Ton Sai Beach itself is very good for sunbathing, but you can swim only if stones and algae do not cause you inconvenience.

Beach description

Generally, Ton Sai is known for his climbingparties, not bathing. Reilly is the real Mecca for the climbers. In different parts of the peninsula there are rocks with surfaces of varying complexity, routes that are suitable for both beginners and experienced craftsmen. They come here just to hang out and climb rocks. Instructors and equipment is taken on the spot, you do not need to carry anything with you.

In every nook and cranny in Riley can be observedhow the climbers dangle on their ropes, or carry them to the rocks, or rest, eat and sleep right on the stones. In general, Tonsai Beach is a ten-meter-wide strip of sand that stretches for three hundred and a few meters between impassable rocks on the right, and a collapsed rock on the left (where the transition to West Riley).

Sunset, depth and waves

Starting from the surf and ten meters belowwater all the bottom is covered with pebbles, shells and fragments of coral. The slope of the bottom is insignificant, almost shallow, so that the sea goes 5-7 meters at low tide, leaving behind trash of different origin. In general, the whole beach corresponds to the atmosphere of this area - wild.

No one keeps the cleanliness, there are no resorts andhotels adjacent to the water, so Ton Sai looks like it conceived nature. Plus boatmen, their ropes and anchors) Waves happen only in stormy weather or in strong winds.

Sun beds and shade

Natural sources of shadow on Ton Sae growalong the coast in large quantities, there is no need for personal umbrellas. Somewhere after one o'clock in the afternoon, there are problems with the shadow, because now nothing hinders the sun until sunset. There are a couple of areas along the edges of the beach, near the rocks, where there is shadow at any time of the day.

In addition to the rental of kayaks and boat taxis, on the shore is notoffer no services. Neither massages nor sellers of corn. In Tong Sae, there is one learning point for climbing, one store with dried wood and beer. All other cafes, bungalows and yoga centers are located deep in the peninsula. In the evenings, the whole fraternity gathers in beach cafes. Youth gatherings here mostly, in addition to alcohol, twist poi, walk on the ropes. Fun. Expensive.

Taking advantage of the distance from the main part of the resort, local businessmen pulled up the price of everything - housing, services and food. For a bottle of water, which costs 7 baht on Ao Nang, they ask for 30 baht on Railay, so take the water with you. The only water machine with an adequate price per liter of drinking water is located on the path between East and West Rails (there is on the map at the end of the post).

Tonsai has an autonomous diesel power supply that is hidden in a brick building, somewhere in the middle of the area. It’s better not to settle near him - it works too loudly.

Houses and hotels on the beach

Although most bungalows are on TonSae are built as real island huts, the price tag for housing is far from humane. Accommodation on Ton Sai is a bit, from the hotels with a good rating and visitor reviews, you can select a good hotel Tonsai Bay Resort

How to find the beach

On Ton Sai you can sail by boat from Aonang or Noparat Tara, but if you suddenly sailed on West railaythen from there it’s easy to get to Ton Sai in two ways.

The first passes through the long-collapsed cliffs, located between Ton Sai and West Rails. Steps are quite steep, in difficult places stretched ropes, walk 10 minutes, no more. You can even go through the water, near these rocks, but there it is deep in places and you can wet your belongings, and it’s not very pleasant to walk along the rocks at the bottom.

The second path passes in the depths of the peninsula. This route is half an hour longer, easier and more interesting. You need to walk away from West Railay along the path that begins under the sign of Walking Street, but do not turn on East Railay, and move on. By the way, the same way is more convenient for those who landed on Phra Nang or East Railay - you don't have to turn on West Railay (left), turn right.

Ahead will come a nice cave, the entrance to whichIt costs 40 baht, but it is better to go there at high tide, get more fun and good pictures. After the cave there will be a resort, pass it on the right side. After it will be a fork in the path (there is a marker on the map), you need to go on the left.

It leads through the jungle and a small pass tothe shore itself. If you turn to the right, then you will come to the abandoned resort. On the way to the beach, you, at the same time, consider the infrastructure of Ton Sai and its inhabitants.
