Districts of Yerevan
The districts of Yerevan divide the capital of Armenia into 12 districts, which include numerous districts. Yerevan districts include Davtashen, Arabkir, Erebuni, Avan, Malatia-Sebastia, Nubarashen, Nork-Marash, Shengavit and others.
Description and attractions of the main areas
- Kentron: travelers should go on a tour of Republic Square to see the Government House; visit the Museum Complex, which houses the Museum of the History of Armenia (stores 400,000 items related to ethnography, archeology, numismatics) and the Art Gallery (here you can see more than 60 paintings by Aivazovsky); admire fountains and beautiful street lamps; shopping at the Vernissage market (a great place to buy souvenirs in the form of scarves, figurines made of wood and ceramics, paintings, carpets). - Ajapnyak: guests of Yerevan will be curious to visit the recreation area in this area - there they will find a swimming pool (its area is 3000 sq.m), 3 attractions, indoor and outdoor gazebos and a sports ground.
- Kanaker-Zeytun: Victory Park is of interest - there you can see and photograph a monument “Mother Armenia”, take a boat ride on a picturesque pond, admire the beauty of the city in the smallest detail, looking through a telescope located on a special platform, and ride one of the attractions.
- Nor-Nork: interesting thanks to the Church of St. Sarkis (despite the ancient history, guests will see its updated appearance - the reconstruction of the church was completed in 2000), the Nansen Park (guests will be able to see various sculptures, including the monument to Guy; explore the temple of the Most Holy Theotokos and look at the Nansen Museum), the Yerevan Zoo (visiting it involves the opportunity to see more than 2,700 animals and inspect unusual sculptures, for example, a blue elephant made from plastic bottles; the youngest guests will be delighted with the carousels installed for them here; and visiting the zoo during the holidays days, guests will visit a show with clowns and life size puppets) and a water park (visitors will be able to try their hand at one of 7 water slides).
Where to stay for tourists
It is best for tourists to stay in the center of the capital of Armenia - in the Kentron district: there is also the Kond quarter, a walk along the streets of which will allow you to understand what Old Yerevan is, and squares flooded with cafes and entertainment venues. Good and inexpensive hotels can be found in the Nork-Marash area.
