Cost of living in Denmark
Cost of living in Denmark
Despite its small territory, this amazing country has managed to accommodate a huge amount of unique treasures of history and culture. You can come here at any time of the year and never be disappointed. The cost of living in Denmark is a little expensive compared to other Scandinavian countries.
Residence
In addition to traditional hotels for tourists in Denmark, interesting accommodation options have been invented:
- historical hotels;
- farms and budget hotels;
- design hotels.
The cheapest option is farms, the cost of living per person is about 30 €. But here there is fresh air, organic products and the opportunity to plunge into the simple life of the Danes. Historical and design hotels are considered 5-star hotels, so prices are appropriate - from 180 €. The average price for 2–3-star hotels ranges from 130–170 €. There are a lot of hostels and campgrounds in Denmark, the cost of a bed in them is about 20 €.
Food
During a budget holiday in Denmark, it is recommended to try to buy food in supermarkets and cook yourself. The point is that dining in restaurants is quite expensive, and savings on housing will not pay off when spending on food. But you should not completely avoid cafes and restaurants either, because you can find places where a decent lunch will cost 10–20 €. In expensive and luxurious restaurants, you will have to pay for such a pleasure from 150 €.
Transport
Regular Danish public transport tickets cost approximately € 1.50. The only thing is that, for example, in Copenhagen, there are 3 different transport zones and tickets are valid each in its own zone. To get to another part of the city, you often have to buy an additional bus or metro ticket. It is more profitable to take tickets for 10 € for several trips, they are universal. There is also a single public transport pass. Depending on the number of days, its cost is different. Traveling around the city on all types of transport for a day costs about 20 €, and 2 or more - up to 40 €. Children are given a 50% discount, and with such a card, you can get a considerable discount on the ferry to Sweden.
Taxis in the country are inexpensive - 3 € landing and about 1 € per kilometer. You can rent a car for 30–40 €. But the problem is that in Denmark there is really nowhere to turn around, so it is better to take the car over long distances. In cities, bicycles are preferable, they can be borrowed for the whole day for 5-10 €.
