Jerusalem is a famous city in the Middle East. Its historical part (Old Town) is a place where significant events took place for many millions of inhabitants of our planet. Religious monuments and shrines are also located here. Some of the streets of Jerusalem were formed in ancient times. The old city includes Jewish, Christian, Armenian, Muslim parts. The main shrine of the Jews is the Wailing Wall, Muslims - the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Christians - the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Way of the Cross..

The landmark of the city is the Jaffa street, intended for pedestrians. It is considered the final stage for pilgrims traveling from the port of Jaffa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. In this place, each building has a historical value. Vehicles can only move along the street at certain times.
The most ancient street outside the Old part is the street of the Prophets. Its beginning is the Damascus Gate, the end is David Square. The street of the Prophets conventionally separates the secular areas of the city from the religious ones. It appeared in the 19th century and is a beautiful mixture of architectural styles. It houses administration buildings, hospitals, houses of wealthy citizens. The street of the Prophets is very attractive for tourists.
The main pedestrian zone in modern Jerusalem is Ben Yehuda Street. It is named after the scientist who revived Hebrew. The street was famous even before 1949 (before the formation of the State of Israel). Ben Yehuda is always full of people who rush here to visit shops and offices.
The oldest quarter of the New City is Shearim. Its buildings correspond to the image of the Jewish regions of Western Europe in the 17th century. Followers of the most orthodox Jewish worldview live on Shearim Street.

An interesting history museum is the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Theological schools, synagogues and residential buildings are located there. The first settlements of the quarter appeared three thousand years ago. Its central street, Cardo, features traditional Roman buildings. It crosses the main thoroughfare of the city. Its modern appearance was formed under the Emperor Justinian. Along the street are the ruins of a colonnade with areas for pedestrians. During the domination of the Arabs, buildings began to collapse. Cardo Street is considered a shopping street, as it has a large number of shops. Places for trade were built during the time of the Crusaders.
