Diving in Portugal

Portugal's coastal waters hide a magnificent world of flowers. Coral gardens, huge rocks, schools of fish, octopuses and jellyfish - that's what diving in Portugal is all about. The country will offer you several diving destinations.

Madeira

At your service there is always good weather, clear water and the opportunity to swim accompanied by dolphins or stingrays. Madeira's waters are home to numerous fish species. Underwater landscapes abound with rocky reefs, as well as many underwater caves.

Parcial do Garajau

In this marine park, you can watch the life of barracuda, mackerel and sea bass.

T-reef

Another popular Madeira dive site. It is very easy to find, since it is located just 400 meters from the park. These are two high rocks, the bases of which are located under water and form an underwater cave, 50 meters long. T-reef is great for beginners diving.

Azores

An amazing place to admire sperm whales. Several species of dolphins also live here, which are not averse to accompanying divers during an underwater trip. Rare species of jellyfish can also be seen in the Azores.

Manta rays and whale sharks are found in great numbers around Santa Maria Island. Diving near Pico and Faial will allow you to observe blue sharks. Dive sites of Corvu are suitable for fans of large, even giant inhabitants of the underwater world.

Diving near the island of Graciosa will appeal to fans of river diving. Here you can see the Terceirense, a 70-meter ship located at a depth of 21 meters.

Berlengas Archipelago

Geographically, it is located 10 kilometers from Peniche. The waters here are suitable for divers of all skill levels. Numerous flocks of sea bass and bream, underwater caves and rivers will please everyone without exception.

Sesimbra

It is the beginners who will feel especially comfortable on the territory of the dive site. There is just a huge variety of squid and congers here. There are also large octopuses, sometimes quite aggressively reacting to such incursions of people into their possessions..

Algarve

The water area has become the last resting place for two ships of the country's navy. They were decommissioned and then deliberately flooded. It is planned to create a large artificial reef here, which will later become part of the diving park. The maximum depth in these places is 30 meters. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to admit at least 2,000 people per year. BUT «Oliveira e carmo» and «Zambese» will serve as the basis for the reef.

Sagres

An incredibly interesting dive site. Here you will find caves, sunken ships and many marine life - moray eels, octopuses, crabs, dolphin families and, of course, many small colorful fish.
