Transport in China
Transport in China is represented by various types of communications. In addition, you can choose bicycles and ordinary rickshaws for movement, but, as a rule, travel by them is more expensive than by taxi (the price depends on the distance and weight of the passenger).
Popular modes of transport in China
- Buses: City and long-distance buses can travel within cities or go on long journeys. Since there are no travel cards and magnetic cards, tickets can be purchased at the box office, and on long-distance routes - from the controller.
- Air transport: for domestic, regional and international flights, it is advisable to choose large Chinese companies (best service, high security).
- Rail transport: In China, you can travel on regular, fast and express trains (purchased tickets are valid only on a specific train). In order not to stand in huge queues, you, as a tourist, can use special ticket offices for foreigners (they are open at train stations in many Chinese cities) - as a rule, there are few people there, but tickets are sold with a surcharge. As for discounts, with one passenger 1 child up to 110 cm tall can ride for free, and for children up to 140 cm there is a 50% discount for travel.
- Water transport: on a tourist boat you can ride along the canal from Suzhou to Hangzhou, on a tourist boat you can cruise on Taihu Lake and Yangtze Canal, on a tourist boat you can ride the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River.
Taxi
In search of a taxi, it is worth going to a special parking lot, calling it by phone or stopping it on the street (if the taxi driver is free, you will see a red mark on the windshield). Before getting into a taxi, you should make sure that it is licensed and equipped with a taximeter (tourists are advised to refuse taxi services if a taximeter is not installed or is malfunctioning). Important: if your trip will run on toll roads and bridges, you will pay for the toll on them. Payment in Chinese taxis is charged only in yuan, so it is advisable to exchange money before the trip.
Car rent
It is not possible to rent a car in China with a Russian or international driver's license (you need to obtain a temporary Chinese license, pay a deposit and an insurance premium), so it is advisable to rent a car with a driver. It is worth considering that driving a rented car can be complicated by the fact that street signs and road signs are displayed only in Chinese.
If you wish, you can rent a bike (this can be done at a special agency or in a hotel) - it is convenient to move around on it, since the roads in the country are flat.
