Transport in Crimea

Transport in Crimea is represented not only by buses, but also by rather exotic transport - intercity trolleybuses and a cable car.

The main types of transport in Crimea

  • Public transport: this includes buses and fixed-route taxis (they are convenient to travel not only in cities, but also between cities). It is worth noting that electric trains (route: Simferopol - Bakhchisarai - Sevastopol) and intercity trolleybuses (route: Simferopol - Alushta - Yalta) also run on the peninsula. Important: in Simferopol, at the entrance to the trolleybus, it is necessary to validate the ticket, and in Yalta, Alushta and in suburban trolleybuses, tickets are checked by conductors at the entrance (a ticket can be bought from the driver or at the ticket office of railway stations).
  • Water transport: if desired, on yachts or boats, you can go on a boat trip of various duration, for example, along the South Crimean coast.
  • Cable cars: the peninsula has 2 such roads: “Yalta - Gorka” (the journey will take 12 minutes) and “Miskhor - Ai-Petri”.

Taxi

Taxis on the peninsula are not in great demand due to their high cost compared to public transport, but nevertheless these services are provided by official “checkers” at the door) and private carriers.

If you do not want to overpay, it is best to order a taxi by phone (the phones are indicated on the doors of the taxi) - otherwise, you may be additionally charged for idle traffic or bad weather. It is impractical to resort to the services of private drivers - they inflate tariffs.

Car rent

If your goal is to drive around the entire Crimean peninsula and visit its most inaccessible corners, spend time on wild beautiful beaches, while saving time and money, it is advisable to rent a car. To rent you will need a driver's license and at least 1 year of driving experience. In addition, you must be over 21 years old, but if you plan to drive along the Crimean serpentines or “saddle” premium car, your age must be over 25.

As for additional options, if you wish, you can also rent a GPS navigation or a car refrigerator (from 150 rubles / day). It is worth considering one very important point: by taking out insurance and transferring the car to another person not specified in the rental agreement, the insurance will become invalid (this also applies to cases of drunk driving).

Crimea is a large peninsula, where transport links are well developed, so if you wish, you can get to the most interesting places of interest.
