Small excursion around Rostov-on-Don
After Belaya Kalitva we went further to Rostov. Deep penetration into Rostov-on-Don did not happen, but it was not planned. We walked along the Don embankment, walked along Pushkinskaya Street and entered Teatralnaya Square. We felt that Rostov was a big city, although it was much easier to breathe in it than in the capital. But the most indelible impression was left by Rostov drivers, scurrying between lanes without turn signals, sharply braking and accelerating. Even accustomed to the Moscow recklessness on the Moscow Ring Road, we were surprised. But traffic jams in Rostov «almost» no, in comparison with Moscow, well, or we were just so lucky.
The route of our trip and its concept can be seen here: We are participating in the project «Russia in 365 days»
Rostov-on-Don
Surb-Khach
And the next day we, before going to the ancient city of Tanais, dropped into Surb-Khach, an Armenian church built at the end of the 18th century. There are several springs with clear water near it, to which an old staircase leads. I'll tell you about it sometime later. I feel that after this trip I will have a lot of material on various sights in Russia..
