Tips for tourists in Turkey and holidaymakers
It is difficult to give advice to tourists of all categories, as everyone travels differently on vacation to Turkey - some on a tour, some on their own. Since I managed to visit both resort Turkey and the real one, I will try right away and about everything that seemed important to me. If you forgot something, add it in the comments. I hope the tips are helpful..
And the description of our trip by bus and hitchhiking read here - Independently to Turkey.

Travel tips for Turkey
planning an independent trip to Turkey:
- It makes sense to learn Turkish. Since English speakers are rare. At the very least, you need to bring a dictionary and phrasebook with you. But here lies another problem: if you ask, you will succeed, but understand the answer no. This is especially true for hitchhiking.
- It makes sense to stock up on maps and guidebooks in advance. GPS won't be superfluous either.
- Do not worry too much about charging the batteries, there are sockets in almost every toilet, as well as at train stations. And when hitchhiking, it would be good to take a car charger with you.
- Each tour operator has its own charter flights, so if you contact him directly, you can buy cheap tickets, for example, Alba tour, Capital tour, Pegasus. This mainly concerns Antalya. Some tour operators say this on the website. Better to buy immediately there and back from the same city. You can try to buy a return ticket from Turkey. For those who want to buy a ticket on their own, I recommend doing it through Aviasales.ru and Skyscanner.ru.
- I would also like to highlight the Pegasus airline http://www.flypgs.com/ru/. She flies from Krasnodar to Istanbul and other cities in Turkey. There are flights to other countries, but we need Turkey. So the tickets are quite cheap, especially if there is a promotion. This is a kind of alternative to the Sochi-Trabzon ferry.
- Ferry Trabzon-Sochi. The cost of a ticket is about $ 50-100 per person. Travel time is about 12 hours. The ferry does not have a timetable like this, you need to find out the time of departure at the port, or call by phone.
Tips for tourists in Turkey
vacationers at the resorts:
- Excursions are quite expensive compared to Egypt. And you can go to the nearest places by dolmus (minibuses), half the price, but without a guide. Another plus is that no one will rush you, and you can spend as much time on some ruins as it takes.
- The hotel guides are rather stupid, they could not answer any of our questions. They could only talk about their excursions and intimidate with all sorts of non-existent horror stories. Their main goal is to cheat you for money. Don't fall for!
Travel Tips in Turkey
for both holidaymakers and independent travelers:
- To estimate the cost of goods, you can multiply the price in lira by 20, and then we get the price in rubles. At the moment, the dollar rate against the Turkish lira is 1.5, the euro rate is 2.
- Internet cafes are common, the cost of one hour is 1-2 lira (20-40 rubles). Wherever we've been, computers have a microphone with headphones and a camera, so it's much cheaper to use Skype than cellular.
- Turkish cellular communication is expensive, about 30 kurus (5 rubles) for a call within Turkey, and 70 kurus (15 rubles) for a call to Russia, SMS to Russia is also around 15 rubles. A call to a landline phone is cheaper than a call to a mobile phone. When buying a SIM card, a tariff is also purchased, a total of 25-35 liras (500-700r), so it makes no difference what to buy Turkcell or Vodafone. But if you plan to use it for a long time, then it is cheaper to use Turkcell, and you also need to register your mobile phone at the operator's office, otherwise after a while the SIM card will stop working with this phone. By the way, if the employees in the communication salons speak English, then it is barely so there was no clear answer to our questions..
Have a nice holiday in Turkey!
