Oslo metro map

Oslo metro map
Oslo Metro (Tunnelbane - T-Banen) consists of six lines that pass through the city center and then diverge, and 95 stations, 16 of which are underground or in closed structures. The total length of the lines is 80 km. Daily passenger traffic is 226,775 passengers (data for 2012).
For the first time the idea of organizing a city-wide high-speed transport in Oslo appeared in 1912; and in 1919 the first tram line appeared in the city. At the same time, ideas for the construction of underground tunnels were already emerging, and in 1928 the first underground tram station was opened, but later it was decided to abandon them for various reasons. A full-fledged metro was opened after the Second World War as part of a program to rebuild the city's infrastructure. On May 22, 1966, the construction of a tunnel near the eastern railway station was completed and the Oslo metro began to carry out passenger traffic.
It is interesting that the Oslo metro tunnels are laid through the rock, so their walls are of natural origin, they are only in places treated with cement. For the same reason, some metro stations have retained their natural surroundings - they look like a natural cave. Entry-exit of stations is indicated by steles with a T sign in the ring. At the stations there are scoreboards that indicate the route and time before the arrival of the train. Train drivers announce station names in carriages.

Oslo metro opening hours

Oslo Metro operates from 5:30 am to 0:30 am. On Saturdays and Sundays, night buses run around the city from 1:30 am to 4:00 am. Intervals of trains during peak hours are 2-3 minutes, at regular times 15 minutes, on weekends - 30 minutes.
