Cruises on the Amur

Amur is the most grandiose waterway of the Russian Far East. The length of the river is almost three thousand kilometers. The border with the PRC runs along it, and the Amur ranks fourth in the country among rivers in terms of basin area. Fans of travel around their native land will be interested in cruises along the Amur, which begin in Khabarovsk or Blagoveshchensk. The route of the trip includes both picturesque natural attractions and acquaintance with cities on the banks of the great Far Eastern river.

Far East cities

The main anchorages of a cruise ship during the trip are port cities. In them, tourists go ashore and get acquainted with memorable places, visit museum expositions and arrange photo sessions at observation platforms. The most important Far Eastern cities that you can visit during a cruise on the Amur:

  • Amursk is one of the youngest cities in the Russian Far East. Its main attraction is the only botanical garden in the region, where more than one and a half thousand plant species are represented. The city also houses the central estate of the Bolognsky Nature Reserve, where hundreds of thousands of migratory birds are nesting. Dozens of plants found in the reserve are listed in the Red Book.
  • Blagoveshchensk is a city in the Amur Region, founded in 1856 and named after the Church of the Annunciation. The Amur Regional Museum of Local Lore is opened here - the oldest in the Far East. In one of the Orthodox churches of the city there is the miraculous Albazin icon of the Mother of God.
  • Komsomolsk-on-Amur, founded by detachments of pioneering Komsomol members in the 30s of the last century. It is often called the "city of youth", and the local Museum of Fine Arts displays unique Chinese folk paintings of Nianhua.
  • Khabarovsk, named after the 17th century Russian explorer Erofei Khabarov. From here, cruises along the Amur start, at the beginning of which tourists get acquainted with the sights of the city. Khabarovsk Regional Museum is thousands of exhibits that tell about the history and cultural traditions of the region, folk crafts and rituals of its inhabitants.
