Haad Thian Beach - Nature Corner and Guys Bar

By and large, Had Tian (or Haad Tien) has only two features: distance from prying eyes and Guy's bar (Guy’s Bar). The remoteness cuts off the idle tourist who is not ready to shell out the extra 250-300 baht for the delivery of the body by sea or who does not want to risk his health, overcoming the overland route through the jungle.

And the Guise Bar is a cult place. Not to say that it is very secret, but given the above, the bar is a kind of backstage point of contact for the most advanced islanders. Well, the beach here is a small bonus, although I would call it rather a parking for a boat taxi.

Beach description

The beach is hidden on the eastern coast of the island, in a bay between the rocky cape Wai Nam, behind which hides the charming eponymous Wai Nam beach, and Cape Klong, behind which there will be a good Haad Yuan beach. Haad Tian is very short, about 250 meters. You can swim here if you keep to the right half of the beach, because the center and the left half are incapable of the word «generally».

The coast has a slight slope and an interesting structure: within the surf, on the coast lies fine dense sand with large stony outcrops. And outside - just dunes of loose, viscous stony sand, with a lot of impurities. Both in sunny and rainy weather, the beach looks like a C: turbid water, and under the rocks the river flows into the sea.

Entering the water, depth and waves

Entering the sea so as not to break your legs, you will be able to only in the right half of Haad Tian near the yoga center and The Sanctuary Thailand hotel. There is a relatively flat and clean entrance to the water, shoulder depth comes about 15 meters from the shore. Closer to the center and to the very left edge of Haad Tiana, stones are hidden under the water, which are clearly visible at low tide.

By and large, all these disadvantages are paid off by two neighboring beaches within walking distance: Haad Yuan and Wai Nam. Knowledgeable people go swimming there, and Haad Tien is more suitable for sunbathing..

Sun beds and shade

There is no rental version, but you can find sun loungers near the resort. Taking into account the general lack of people and the creepy attractiveness of the beach, getting a sun lounger for temporary use is not a problem. Haad Tien is a densely vegetated beach, so everyone gets a natural shade anywhere on the beach..

True, on the left side of Had Tien, the trees grow too close to the water and sea debris often accumulates between them..

Infrastructure

A couple of resorts, a couple of cafes and a couple of bars (Guise Bar and neighboring Eden Bar on Haad Yuan beach), massage sala and taxi-boat - that's the whole infrastructure of this, forgotten by the Buddha, corner of Phangan.

Everything is very simple, small-town, affordable. Or rather, there is only one capital and expensive hotel - The Sanctuary Thailand. This is a spa resort, a yoga detox center, and a restaurant. How it happened that he is next to the rastaman Gayz Bar, no idea. I know that some yogis strain a little from such a neighborhood..

But given that parties do not take place every day, it is apparently tolerable, since people come here, there were a lot of visitors in the restaurant during the season..

The nearest shops and developed infrastructure are located on Ban Tae, if you go by land, or by Haad Rine, if you go by boat.

Houses and hotels on the beach

There is practically no housing on Had Tien, as I said, The Sanctuary resort and another 1-2 bungalow complexes without a name. Perhaps they all have the same owner, did not go, did not ask. The places here are not yet inhabited, not mastered by developers, so there are more wastelands and jungles than houses.

Specifically, in the beach area, I don't even know what to recommend for accommodation, except for The Sanctuary, IMHO it is better to look at the light here, and settle in the neighboring Haad Yuan, where the beach is better and the choice of hotels is better.

Hotels in Koh Phangan>

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on the excellent Roomguru service. He will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

How to find the beach

There are only two options. The first, cheating, is to pay a boatman on Haad Rin about 300 baht (one way) and calmly disembark on the banks of Haad Tien, slightly soaking your feet.

The second is to look at the geotag on the map below, and go there on a rental scooter or four-wheel drive jeep. The second option is more interesting, but for experienced drivers, and you will get the beach in the form of a prize for the hardships and hardships suffered during the trip. From personal experience: we drove there for an hour and a half through the jungle in an SUV, along a road where I myself would not go in my car for sure.

I do not advise. The road is really bad, especially after the rains, which in my case have been pouring incessantly for the last month (when the whole region was declared a natural disaster zone). Several times they very steeply cling to the bottom of the stones, several times I had to get out of the car to tell the driver where to go (it blurred a lot), if they sat on the belly, then help would have to wait a very long time.
