Naithon Beach - small and resort

Naithon Beach (or Nai Thon) is the smallest resort beach in the northern part of Phuket, its length is only 1 km, width is not much more than 50 meters, but at low tide it grows at times. Knighton is at a distance of 10 km from airport on the one hand and 30 km from the capital - Phuket Town on the other.

Beach description

The beach is relatively popular in high season. Not comparable, of course, with Patong, it is much quieter and quieter here, but there can be decent people on the shore. The sea is excellent, the water is clean and transparent, suitable for diving enthusiasts. The sand on the beach is fine yellow. Sun loungers with umbrellas are placed on the coast.

During the low season, there are almost no tourists here, and hotels may be closed. The sea is stormy and covered with large waves. The beach belongs to a national park, so there are many trees and other green spaces around. It is very suitable for nature lovers who do not want to expose themselves to the hustle and bustle.

But there are still a lot of people here during peak season. In case anyone is interested in reading about other places, I have a short overview of all the beaches of Phuket, will help you decide on the choice of the beach.

Entering the water, depth and waves

The beach line is flat, the sand enters the water under a slight slope, and at low tide it takes a long time to get to the water. Knighton is a suitable place for a family beach vacation. From May to September, like many other beaches in Phuket, big waves are frequent here, and the water becomes muddy from the sand. In winter, the water on the beach is clear and clean.

Sun beds and shade

Along the entire length of the beach there is a natural shade from casuarins, but only in the first half of the day and only for the line of sunbeds that is close to them. Renting sun loungers here costs 100 baht per day. Fortunately, the not strong human workload of Nai Ton allows you to put loungers freely in two or three rows, and in some places and in one row far from each other, so as not to disturb the peace of tourists.

Infrastructure

The beach town consists of a standard set of establishments (massage parlors, restaurants and mini-markets). The latter are almost the only place where you can spend time shopping. As mentioned above, the beach area was not developed for tourists for unknown reasons..

It is hoped that the latest development plans will turn Knighton into a full-fledged beach type Karona or Patong.

Of the available activities on the beach, you can only find a kite surfing school, but due to the small waves at the sea, this sport is only suitable for beginners..

Many tourists enjoy a lazy swim in warm water, a massage in the sun loungers and lunch at a local beach restaurant where tables sit on the sand. Lunch costs from 70 baht per dish, and if you visit a local pizzeria, you will have to pay about 300 baht for a whole pizza.

In the southern part of the beach, you can put on a breathing mask and dive into the depths of the calm sea with scuba diving. Hidden under the water is a broken coastline full of reefs and marine animals, but without a flair or better map of these reefs, you are unlikely to find anything other than empty coral. Maps are sold there on the shore.

In low season, it is time to put on your flip flops and hang out with your friends, as the beach becomes like a ghost village. The water noisily carries heaps of garbage to the shore, which practically no one removes. The spectacle is still something! There are no cultural places of interest, if you are bored with relaxing on the beach, there are no.

Nai Thon is located in the center of the National Natural Park. There is even a stretch of virgin jungle in front of it, but most of the space near the beach is occupied by mangroves..

Houses and hotels on the beach

Hotels offer even a small number of accommodation, but for every taste. There are bungalows with a private pool, built in the form of a hidden tropical village, and cheap guesthouses (from 600 baht per day). All of them are located, both by the road along the coastline, and within 5 - 7 minutes of walking from the beach.

On both sides of the beach, slightly towering above the surroundings, against the backdrop of tropical thickets, two five-star hotels with beautiful views and accommodation in villas are visible: Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon Beach in the north and Andaman White Beach Resort on the southern promontory adjacent to the beach.

In the center of the beach there is a pleasant hotel with a large pool Pearl of Naithon Apartments Phuket and much more democratic, but quite simple: Naithon Beach Mansion, closer to the center of the beach - Phuket Naithon Resort and about the same level as Naithon Beach Resort .

At any hotel, you can rent motorbikes (from 200 baht) or call a taxi to get to some other place on the island. For taxi services to the main road of Phuket, you will have to pay 150 baht or even more, depending on which taxi driver you come across.

Naithon hotels>

Be sure to check for discounts or specials on the excellent Roomguru service. He will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more profitable than in the same hotels in the Booking.com system..

For the lazy, here are the direct links to the hotels listed above:

If you want to book a hotel here in advance or look for accommodation on other beaches, I have selection of hotels in Phuket with a good rating and reviews.

How to find the beach

There is no public transport to the beach; you can get to Knighton either by taxi or by your own car. Nearest beaches Bang Tao and Nai Yang

Follow the island's main highway, Thep Krasat Tri, from Phuket Town to the north, or from the airport to the south. Pay attention to the road signs, as soon as a sign appears in the field of view indicating Thep Krasat Tri Nai Yang Rd (Route 4031), then you need to turn off.

Then, after about 5 - 7 minutes, there will be a fork, where you should take to the left and get to the road sign. From it, turn left again, and the road will lead you to a village, from which a mountain road leads to Knighton Beach. It won't be difficult to find it..
