Nai Yang Beach - uncrowded and pleasant

Nai Yang Beach is a calm and cozy beach in Phuket. You can find it somewhere in the northwestern part of the island. This beach is not too big. Its length barely reaches 3 km. The sand under your feet is like grains of gold, and the water sparkles with azure tones.

Beach description

This place is suitable for those who love peace and loneliness - there are few tourists. And in the summertime, for a full hour of walking along the beach, you may not meet anyone at all. The most inhabited part of the beach is the central one, there are mini-markets, massage parlors, restaurants, bars and excursion bureaus on the only street along the beach..

In case anyone is interested in reading about other places, I have a short overview of all the beaches of Phuket, will help you decide on the choice of the beach.

Entering the water, depth and waves

The entry into the water is relatively quick, the depth increases in 10 meters, provided that there is no serious low tide today. During the monsoons, there are no strong waves in Nai Yang Bay, the coral reef protects the shallow water from the elements. The entrance to the sea here is very shallow and sometimes the water leaves tens of meters from the coast. At low tide, you can generally forget about swimming, you won't get to the depth. Also on the southernmost part near the small island is full of stones.

Sun beds and shade

The northern and southern parts of the beach are almost completely deserted, but you can sit on the sand under the shade of trees. There are sun loungers with umbrellas on the shore. In the southern part, there is generally a casuarine forest.

Infrastructure

Water activities include kayaking or kitesurfing. In the vicinity of the beach, there is the Wat Nai Yang temple, and for nature lovers there is a great opportunity to stroll through the park's mangrove thickets. Like many other shallow beaches, Nai Yang is a haven from civilization, the hustle and bustle of the city..

In the immediate vicinity there are no shopping centers, no market squares, no business buildings, let alone nightlife centers. You can grab a bite to eat at local coastal cafes or hotel restaurants. As the sun goes down, life stops here, and the beach becomes gloomy and deserted..

Only where the hotels are located, there is some movement. There are few hotels on the beach and they are all close to the coast. There are bamboo bungalows available. As I wrote above, the whole civilization is located in the central part: cafes, massage parlors, a couple of minimarkets, currency exchangers.

If you need 7/11, then you need to go to the neighboring highway, from the central part it takes about 15-20 minutes. Around the same place there is a Thai market that is open on weekends. Well, very close, a 5-10 minute drive is Phuket airport.

Houses and hotels on the beach

In the north, closer to the airport, right on the territory of the nat. Sirinat Park, the five-star Dewa Phuket is located and, even farther from the beach, but also among the forest, there is a fairly budget Ruan Mai Naiyang Beach .

Around the central part of the beach near the coast, there are several good hotels: TT Naiyang Beach Phuket, Ruan Mai San Ngam Resort and Dang Sea Beach Bungalow. At the southern end of the beach, a pleasant bungalow hotel L’esprit De Naiyang Beach Resort (we once lived in it, really liked it) and, a few hundred meters from the sea, - villas in the rainforest, Phuket Nature Home Resort .

Be sure to check for discounts or specials on the excellent Roomguru service. He will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more profitable than in the same hotels in the Booking.com system..

For the lazy, here are the direct links to the hotels listed above:

If you want to book a hotel here in advance or look for accommodation on other beaches, I have selection of hotels in Phuket with a good rating and reviews.

How to find the beach

If you nevertheless decide to go there, then first a surprise awaits you. From Phuket airport only taxis go there, no other public transport goes there. Of course, if you have your own vehicle, then there are no particular problems. Follow the signs and get onto Thep Krasat Tri highway. From there, take Highway 402 to the beach.
