Phra That Chom Kitti - a place to catch magical sunsets

I have written many times about Thai temples. There are probably a dozen or more articles here on the blog. Some are memorable, some are not, but it is impossible not to visit them if you live in Thailand for a long time. Why is it impossible? Yes, if only because they are often located in beautiful places or somewhere at a height, from where, again, you can admire the very beauty. Well, and usually the territories at the temples are quite pleasant to the eye, thanks to the efforts of the monks living there. Wat Phra That Chom Kitti is no exception - cute territory, typical shiny buildings, but the main thing is the view! Moreover, the view is interesting just at sunset, magically simple! Apparently I have some kind of aesthetics, so I can't live without nature and in a concrete metropolis for a long time..

Having traveled around the north of Thailand for about two weeks, having visited the stunning Ang Khange, drinking delicious tea in Me Salong, I went back to my beloved Chiang Mai.

By the way, for those who are going to Chiang Mai on a tour, I recommend the service for booking hotels RoomGuru and our overview of guesthouses in the historical center of the city (squared).

Before leaving for Bangkok, my friends and I went on bikes to see the dam, and on the way back from it we accidentally stopped at this temple on the mountain. Not really, it was the way back that turned out to be direct, because the temple is located even further from Chiang Mai than the dam. We drove for an hour on empty roads, partly on country roads. We just drove where we were going. Immediately I remembered my childhood, just like then we were aimlessly riding bicycles all day around summer cottages, then to the pond, then to the forest, then from the springboards they jumped.

The buildings themselves are typical and for me personally they no longer cause much interest. But here's the sunset ... By the way, why is that, I have seen a sunset many more times in my life than some sights, but the sunset is always beautiful (especially from a height), but the sights are boring. Why can you enjoy natural beauty every day, but all man-made ones become boring? Or so I only have?

Perhaps, if we were there at a different time, I would not even write about this temple, so I recommend that if you go there, then in the late afternoon.

Getting there is not at all difficult. Directly along Highway 1001 north of Chiang Mai and straight off the highway you should see in the distance on Mount Wat Phra That Chom on the right. The pointer at the desired turn is also present.

Not a very visited temple, but at the same time it offers a delightful view, especially at sunset. There is a golf club nearby.
