The ancient pyramids of Egypt and the Great Sphinx are a touch to the secrets of millennia.
Initially, we did not intend to visit the ancient pyramids in Egypt, but when we got there, we thought, how could it be, this is practically a symbol of this country, one of the seven wonders of the world, and it seems like a place of power, but we are not going there. And it's not a fact that we will find ourselves in Egypt again. Plus there are some tricky energy lines intersecting. And let's go ... And we saw the pyramids ... And it was cool ...
An excursion to the Egyptian pyramids cost $ 50 and included travel through Cairo city, sailing on a boat on the Nile and lunch at a floating restaurant, check-in at the aroma oil salon and papyrus factory, and of course our main goal is to visit the ancient pyramids of Egypt and the Great Sphinx.
The trip was unforgettable and full of impressions. Initially, I thought that the ancient pyramids of Egypt are somewhere far in the desert, and next to them there is only sand and wild camels. It turned out that the ancient pyramids of Egypt are located on the outskirts of Cairo, in Giza, a former suburb, which is now part of the Cairo metropolis..
By the way, an independent visit to the pyramid complex costs $ 12.
Three pyramids: the pyramid of Cheops, the pyramid of Chephren, the pyramid of Mikerin, as well as 6 more small ones nearby, and the Great Sphinx can be seen on the Giza plateau. The tour bus unloads you at the site between the pyramids of Cheops and Khafre, and you find yourself between these huge stone structures, majestic in their power. Each stone is almost as tall as a person, and weighs several tens of tons. The height of the Cheops pyramid is about 140 m.Large pieces, however.
But, unfortunately, you will not be able to feel this momentous moment right away, as a crowd of local Arabs clinging to, offering to buy a super mega set of plastic pyramids at a ridiculous price «odyn doler». Well, this is a very useful thing, I would immediately buy a bag of these, but it would not fit into the bag. There are also camel rides and horse rides, photos with and without a Bedouin. Everything is put on stream, it is necessary for people to earn money somehow, the country is not very rich. We were warned in advance that they would offer to take a picture for free, or they could donate a pebble, and then demand a bribe for their services. Even the police, dressed in black uniforms, also strive to make money by offering to photograph you from different angles: I hold a pyramid in my palm, lean on a pyramid, a whole pyramid. The atmosphere does not match this place of power, there is no sacrament. I wanted to run away from this rabid crowd and retire, in order to feel the significance of these stone giants, and touch at least for a while the secrets of Egypt. We managed to do it a little, but since only 1 hour is given for a walk near the Egyptian pyramids, then this «a little» very few.
I realized for myself that I would like to come there for the whole day, calmly bypass all the ancient pyramids, sit and think. I suppose that at the farthest - the pyramid of Mikerin, there are not many people, since there is still a way to go there. In the evening, the lights are lit, and the pyramids are a very beautiful sight..
From the ancient pyramids of Egypt, from the Giza plateau, a view of the city of Cairo opens, which almost came close to the pyramids. The Great Sphinx, it seems, will soon find itself among residential buildings. Over Cairo - haze, in the background a normal phenomenon for a metropolis.
We did not dare to go inside the ancient pyramids. Firstly, the entrance to the pyramid of Cheops and the pyramid of Khafre costs $ 10-20 per person, and secondly, it is embarrassing that the first people who entered there threw all their skates, who from what. It is not known why all this was built, and how it affects a person. It may well be that it was not the pharaohs who built it at all, and it is possible that the pyramids were originally intended not for burial at all, but for other purposes. In addition, our guide warned that we will not see anything special inside the Egyptian pyramids, everything has long been taken out and is in museums. You can also go into a small pyramid, the queen's pyramid. The entrance is free, it is located next to the Cheops pyramid.
The next item on our program was the Great Sphinx with its nose torn off: the body of a lion with the head of a man, 20 meters high. Where the nose went, no one knows, if Napoleon blew it up, if he fell off over time, if some Sufi fanatic broke it off. 40 minutes were allotted to view the undergrowth, which is enough, since you cannot approach it yourself, you can only contemplate it from a distance on a small side podium in a close crowd of pilgrims.
Despite some drawbacks, the trip turned out to be very informative for us, and it can be perceived as an overview in order to draw conclusions for ourselves. The goal, to touch at least for a moment the secrets of Egypt, was achieved. In principle, in addition to the ancient pyramids and mountains of moses in egypt, we are unlikely to be going to see anything else.
