Hiking to Crimea - Mangup-Kale and Silver Streams. Part 1

Initially, we planned the Carpathians, but most of the participants wanted to go to the sea, and the Carpathians changed to a hiking trip to the Crimea. I was not at all upset and began to study the tourist routes of the Crimea. After all, I was to lead a group of people, and I was fully responsible for this event. This was my first trip, when I myself prepare for it, and even lead people. It's good that they are all my friends, and in case of failure, I would not be beaten.

In just a few days, a hiking route across the Crimea was drawn up. Both friends and the Crimean LJ community helped. Also, a map of Crimea with tourist routes was purchased, and a map was downloaded to the phone with a GPS, which later came in handy..

Technical data

Path length: About 60 km, day trips - as you like. We passed it slowly in 7 days, you can go through it in 4-5.

The thread of the route: Tankovoye - Mangup (spring) - t / s Istoki (spring) - lane. Bechku - t / s Ai-Dimitriya (spring) - t / s Tea House - t / s Silver Streams (spring) - t / s Grand Canyon (river) - t / s B (river) - t / s Bash-Dere (river) - Ai-petri - by minibus to Yalta.

We had a route across the mountains to the sea (see the link for information on the route and tips for beginners), just like through thorns to the stars. This is a very good option to get tired first, and then lie on the beach for a couple of days. And here is my report on the campaign for you.

The first day. Tankovoye village - Yuzyk-Khaya rocks (Chardaklyk mountain)

We got off the train in Bakhchisarai. From here we had to get to the village of Tankovoe, where our hiking trip began. In Bakhchisarai, we found that there was no exchanger near the station, and we did not have a single hryvnia with us. Therefore, I had to walk to the bus station, along the way finding an exchange office.

The prices in Ukraine were pleasantly surprised. The food will be cheaper than what we have in Moscow. Having tasted Ukrainian ice cream in Tankovoye, we hit the road. This is where the adventure began. We walked along the road indicated on the map, and it took and ended. I had to wade through the forest thicket, through the so-called coachmen, in the heat, scratching my face and hands. The people began to murmur. But after a while we were rewarded with a beautiful view from the Yuzyk-Khaya cliff to the surrounding mountains and the cave city of Mangup-Kale! Everyone gasped and realized that without the difficulties we would not have appreciated all the beauty of this place. It was immediately decided to spend the night.

Second day. Mount Chardaklyk - Cave city Mangup-Kale

In the morning of the next day, the adventure continued - we tried to go down to the entrance to the cave city of Mangup-Kale, and it took us several hours, as we were again making our way through the forest.

Downstairs we were greeted with open arms by a forester, at least it was written in his crust. And he ripped us off 15 UAH (60 rubles) per person, they say, you have to pay for moving around the forest zone (1 day - 15 UAH). Very similar to a divorce, although he showed us the paper. They did not want to get in touch, the money was not big (we told him that it would be 1 day and we would go). But how pleased he was, he blossomed straight, as if he had bought a Mercedes. In the evening we went up to Mangup-Kale. We got up on the other side so as not to pay the bribe. And we spent the night safely, despite the frightening posters - «fine for spending the night hryvnia dohrena».

Day three. Cave city Mangup-Kale - m / s Istoki - Suatkan stream

In the morning we walked through the stone apartments of the cavemen. Reminds me of it all Cappadocia. And then we were stopped by severe guys on severe UAZ cars, demanding to show tickets. The guys were safely sent, and we went down and continued our hiking trip across the Crimea.

On the third day, the Istoki passed and it was not planned to spend the night on the Suatkan River, which is not far from the Bogaty Gorge, since they again strayed, due to the ended roads. Saved only GPS. Discontent among the masses began to grow. I could only blame the 1974 map and regret not having bought a normal travel navigator. And when the next day I led the people straight up the mountain and through the forest, they were ready to roast me at the stake and eat me like the Indians ate Cook. My poking at the map, and exhortations that there is a road here, it's just «slightly» overgrown, did not ride. After that, I finally made a conclusion for myself that we will no longer go along the roads marked on this ill-fated map as unpaved ones, but will only follow tourist routes..

Day four. Suatkan stream - motor vehicle Bechku - motor vehicle Ai Dimitriya - overnight in the forest

Having entered the normal road, our squad rushed forward with a whistle, only the heels sparkled. It turns out that the beginners only lacked a good road surface to realize their capabilities. We only stopped to take some amazing photos after the Bechku pass on the Kordon-Bair ridge.

Having passed the parking lot Ai-Dimitriy, and quenched the incessant thirst at the spring, we spent the night, and did not manage to leave the reserve. And even though we were very stressed by the signs «for the passage through the reserve 510 UAH (2040 rubles)», but walking in the dark was not part of our plans. And at night there was a strong thunderstorm, and the people were worried, fearing inadvertently turning into a barbecue.

Our camp is on the slope near the Ai-Dimitrii camp.

Day five. Overnight in the forest - t / s Tea House - waterfall Silver Streams - t / s Canyon

Happy that we were walking along the road, and not along the coachmen, we, bypassing the Teahouse parking lot, quickly came to the Silver Streams waterfall (it was still there then). How beautiful it is! We had such a funky day there, with swimming. And the waterfall really consisted of cascades of silver streams.

P.S. What happened then? And then there was The Grand Canyon of Crimea.
