Holidays on the coast of Russia or in Turkey?
My wife and I constantly go to the Krasnodar Territory as a savage. And have already managed to get used to the atmosphere and the current situation in terms of garbage, service and other things. Our fellow travelers wondered why this was happening and what they had to pay for. The conversation on this topic turned up when we found ourselves in the village of Dolzhanskaya, where spit Dolgaya, separating the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Taganrog Bay.
I specifically read the reviews on the Dolzhan forum before writing this article, both negative and positive. And it became clear to me why some have been drawn here for more than a year, while others are ready to run away on the very first day, and I understood the reason why there will hardly be the same service here as in Turkish resorts.
The route of our trip and its concept can be seen here: We are participating in the project «Russia in 365 days»
The content of the article
Unity with nature
The Dolzhanka resort is primarily a village, and a Russian one at that. And they come here initially to stay in the village. And if so, then there will be no European-quality repairs, wifi internet, azure sea and sandy coast within walking distance. And it is foolish to expect this here, but you can hope for a rural flavor and some kind of unity with nature. Now agritourism is gaining momentum in Europe, and people come to the established tourist complexes specifically to live in a rural-type house and taste all the delights of village life, from food to work in the field. Whoever is not close to such a concept of rest, the better is to immediately go to Turkey, Egypt and Mediterranean resorts, especially since the prices for housing and services will be comparable. It's just a different vacation ...
However, the situation in recent years has not changed for the better, and this is noticed by many. The same rural flavor disappears, wild places turn into crap and paid, while service in campsites and budget hotels is practically absent. Thus, some tourists still travel to the Black and Azov Seas, nostalgic about the good old days, while others buy tours abroad for the same money..
Easy Money
The situation is such that some of the locals are accustomed to easy money earned by vacationers. Although vacationers, perhaps, earned on them for a whole year. This does not apply specifically to the village of Dolzhanskaya, but applies to all sea resorts in Russia. And I am still silent about those unscrupulous owners who rent out housing supposedly with all the amenities, but in fact summer houses with a toilet for a hundred people at scrap prices. Although, of course, people are free to decide for themselves how much their services cost..
You clearly understand that you were cheated when you travel to other countries, and you will understand what you can get for the same money there. And then all that remains is to make a choice who to pay ... But you just need to organize normal garbage collection and dry closets in campsites, make at least general electricity and establish a silence mode. In hotels, teach staff to be respectful to visitors, and correspond to their own advertising. In fairness, I want to say that it is time for vacationers to stop being impudent, rude and litter, thinking that after them at least a flood (this is also observed in Turkey, by the way).
But it is not all that bad :)
I really hope that someday the consciousness of the population will increase and the period will end «cut the dough at any cost» and «I live only for myself». So far we have made a choice for ourselves: a purely beach vacation - abroad, and mountains and the remains of wild beaches - Krasnodar Territory.
So far, I am glad that the more I live, the more I am surrounded by good people. And not only friends and acquaintances. Take, for example, the hostess in Dolzhanskaya - a very nice woman who tried in every possible way to please us, and did not ask for incredible money for her simple house. A chance meeting, and the person is good. It's the same when we rented housing in Olginka (near Tuapse). Among the negative, there is also a positive, I think it is better to focus on it.
