Koh Samui hotels with a private beach - my selection of 12 pieces
Sometimes you want to go on vacation to the sea in such a hotel so that it has its own beach, closed to outsiders. And although all beaches in Thailand are public, there are usually fewer people on such beaches (or sections of the beach), not to mention that everything will be cleared of debris and stones. By the way, after all, some beaches are practically inaccessible, because the piece of land opposite belongs to the hotel and you cannot walk along it. Well, by sea, few people dare to get to the beach.
I made a special selection for those who are looking for such hotels and are ready to pay for them. Not all hotels on Koh Samui are luxury segment, there are more affordable ones, but most with private beaches are expensive. And here is mine selection of inexpensive hotels for price / quality and directory of houses on Koh Samui, where more than 80 houses with a map and a photo.

Samrong Bay Beach Hotels
Samrong Beach, located in the eponymous Samrong Bay, is hidden from prying eyes by the breaks of the coastline and is truly isolated from the outside world by rocks at its edges. The area of the island in which nature created Samrong Beach lies on the outskirts of the main thoroughfares and crowded centers. For independent living here, the infrastructure is not the most convenient, expressed in two or three Thai restaurants and a couple of laundries. Samrong is located close to Samui Airport and popular tourist spots: Big buddha (Big Buddha) and the Plai Laem temple. Due to the limited terrain of the number of roads, it takes a long time to get to the rest of the island from Samrong.
The beach is closed by rocks on the flanks and a steep slope of the mountain, at the foot of which it is located. The bottom under water leaves with a slight slope, you have to walk several tens of meters in order to dive deeper. There is no vegetation all over the beach, the only source of shade is the beach umbrellas, which are not rented. And the palm trees that stand on the territory of the hotel, behind the parapet. Outsiders are not welcome here, but they do not interfere with access to the beach..
Samrong Beach is one hotel beach. Not private, in the Kingdom of Thailand the entire coastline is legally owned by the royal family. But, due to the development of approaches to it with buildings of one hotel, the beach turned out «closed». From the map you can see that there are three resorts built around it:
- Six senses samui
- Idyllic samui
- The bay samui .
However, only the latter has a direct exit, all the others stand on steep rocky slopes around, and do not have their own exit to Samrong Beach..
As befits a beach of this format, Samrong Beach is clean, well-groomed throughout, equipped with comfortable sun loungers and beach umbrellas. For arrival and departure from the beach, hotel guests are provided with electric cars with drivers. In fact, Arayaburi Boutique Resort for families with children is a great place, with friendly, smiling staff and a relaxing atmosphere, away from people and noise..
The shallowness and closedness of the beach make it safe and calm for swimming, even in windy weather..
Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on the excellent Roomguru service. He will quickly and easily show you discounts for the hotel you need in different booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

Thongson Bay Beach Hotels
Thongson Beach is adjacent to another private beach in Samrong Bay. The northeastern part of Koh Samui is generally distinguished by numerous bends of the coastline and beaches hidden between the rocks with a length of 50 to 500 meters. The area of the island where Tongson Beach is located lies away from the main roads and busy places of Koh Samui. Only a few laundries, restaurants, motorbike rentals and internet cafes can be found near Tongson. The beach is quite close to Koh Samui airport and popular tourist spots such as Big buddha (Big Buddha) and the temple Plai Laem.
The beach itself looks like an almost straight line with a sand width of about 40 meters. The entrance to the sea is spoiled in places by the presence of cobblestones and coral debris at the bottom, which do not really interfere with the tide, remaining at a depth, but become a tangible hindrance at low tide. In order to get to the bathing sea, people are forced to walk several tens of meters, carefully looking at their feet. On the shore there is a small stone baptismal font, in which a little water remains at low tide, just for one-year-old babies, and here, next to it, is the only tree with a shadow in the whole of Tongson.
Thongson Beach has only one access to the sea, which runs along the walls of the large Melati Beach Resort & Spa. Near the hotel, in a shady grove on the mountainside, there are about twelve bungalows built on stilts. A separate road is laid to the upper houses, and under them by the water, if you walk down about a hundred meters along the rubble of rocks, there is a very secret beach, where you can often see nudists. Near Melati there is a huge vacant lot the same size as the hotel itself, on which there is nothing but trees. So far Melati Beach Resort & Spa is the only hotel in Thongson.
According to guests' reviews and personal impressions, the Melati hotel pleases with a chic well-groomed garden area. The hotel has several pools of different sizes, large, beautifully furnished rooms with huge beds, a children's playroom and its own, not crowded beach. The hotel has its own fitness center, cable TV, stable Internet throughout the hotel.

Thongsai Bay Beach Hotels
The northeastern part of Koh Samui pleases with a large number of small beaches, where there are almost no people and there are no beach vendors at all. Thongsai Bay hides a hundred-meter beach from neighbors along the coast, and The Thongsai Bay hotel has fenced off the bay from the prying eyes of tourists with its buildings. All the amenities necessary for life are in the hotel, and the area around is particularly deserted. The sea in this part of the island is fenced off from people by hotels and rocks, therefore it is not popular with the mass consumer, and Thais create infrastructure only where it brings money. All trappings of civilization can be found in the Chong Mona area, which is a five-minute drive from Tongsai..
Thongsai Beach is a short strip of very loose, soft sand that cannot be walked on too fast. Exactly the same sand and under water, on a steeply sinking bottom. In order to hide with your head, it is enough to walk three to five steps, because this is one of the deepest beaches on Koh Samui. The depth is convenient for those who like to swim and swim, but in windy weather there are decent waves here, and with children it is better not to go beyond the pool. There is no source of natural shade on the beach.
Entrance to Thongsai Bay is possible only through the property of The Thongsai Bay, whose staff is especially suspicious of strangers' requests to show them the hotel territory and lead them to the beach. The security at the hotel is maintained at a decent level. There are no other buildings in the area of Thongsai Beach, only The Thongsai Bay is in charge of the local beauties..
The hotel is truly chic. Excellently trained, discreet and courteous English speaking staff to keep you in good spirits and order on site. The rooms are cozy, beautifully furnished, with a daily gift of a fruit basket, an atmosphere of calm and tranquility reigns everywhere in the hotel. Two swimming pools on site will come in handy on windy days, and on sunny days there are comfortable sun loungers and parasols on the beach.

Coral Cove Bay Beach Hotels
Between bustling Chaweng and half-lazy Lamai, there is a small stretch of mountain road that runs along the edge of a steep coastline past two cliff-sided beaches. These beaches are widely known even to first-time tourists, therefore they are always popular with a large number of people. One of them, the beach at Coral Cove, is closer to Chaweng. The geographical location of the beach is such that apart from the mountain, the motorway and the hotel on the shore, there is nothing else. No shops, no banks, no markets - nothing useful in everyday island life. Infrastructure Coral Cove is his only hotel.
Coral Cove Beach is a short strip stretching between rocks and huge boulders, interspersed with coral debris in the sand. Despite the small, about a hundred meters distance between the ring road and the beach, no noise of passing trucks and motorcycles is heard on the shore. On the beach there are many trees that provide shade, exotic boulders stick out and an almost stone-free entrance to the water. Although, there is such a great depth that stones do not solve anything.
Unlike many hotels on Koh Samui with their own beaches, access to the sea on Coral Cove is relatively free. There is an exit from the ring road to a small parking lot with a bar where you can leave your car or motorbike and go on a wild vacation. The difficulty lies in not driving past this exit, which few vacationers can cope with. The main contingent of the Coral Cove beach people consists of guests of the only hotel on the shore.
Coral Cove Chalet enjoys the attention of visitors to the island due to its prime location outside of Koh Samui's mainstream life. Its own beach, which is constantly being cleaned up, and where you can go snorkelling. Good breakfasts, friendly staff, amazing views from your room window, and sunrises every day.

Thongtakian Bay Beach Hotels
The second cove, tucked away on a stretch of coastline between bustling Chaweng and the semi-lazy Lamai Beach, sits almost on the border with Lamai Village. The geographic location of Tongtakian Bay is more advantageous than Coral Cove, because it is less than a minute away by car from all amenities of Lamai. The bay lies at the bottom of a rather steep slope, protected from the noise of the ring road by three hotels. There are only a few small Thai shops and one mini market within walking distance..
Thongtakian Beach is widely known for its landscapes and cozy location, but there are never so many people here that relaxing on the beach becomes uncomfortable. The sand is fine and light yellow, with an admixture of shells and coral fragments. The entrance to the water is very shallow, free of sharp stones and corals, so for children Tongtakian is a great place, one of the best on Koh Samui.
The coast of the Tongtakian Bay is occupied by not one, but three hotels of approximately the same size. Together, they take up space the size of a typical mid-size hotel on the island. Considering the special attractiveness of the bay, I decided to include Tongtakian in the list of closed beaches despite so many hotels. By the way, the Tongtakian beach has three more well-established names among the people, by which both tourists and Thais call it, and all of them are named after the hotels on the coast of the bay:
- Crystal Bay Resort
- Silver Beach Resort
- Crystal Bay Yach Club Beach Resort
The most attractive in terms of accommodation, from my point of view, is the Crystal Bay Resort. It is located above the rest, due to which it has stunning views from the windows of the rooms and allows you to enjoy contemplation to the fullest. Access to the beach from the hotel is possible only by stairs, through the restaurant and small pool. The restaurant cooks deliciously, the pool is rarely used, which is understandable, given such a magnificent beach. The quality of service at Crystal Bay Resort is flawless, the rooms are clean, dry and with huge bathrooms.
UPD from February 2018: two more resorts have appeared on the beach, and now there are five hotels in Tong Takian. I give you links to both establishments, open in additional tabs so as not to forget. Promtsuk Buri and Thongtakian Resort

Nathien Beach Hotels
Actually, Natien Beach is not closed, but has a very rugged coastline, with a large accumulation of boulders and rocks at the kinks. In fact, it is a series of small beaches united under one name. On each of these sites, bounded and closed by stones, there is a hotel. The area of the island around the hotels is absolutely deserted and deserted, about half an hour away by car to the main roads, shops and civilization. Not far from ShaSa Resort are local attractions: butterfly garden (without butterflies) and zoo-aquarium.
In this part of the island, the sand on the beach is surprisingly fine and almost snow-white, coral. The entire coast is hidden in the shade of large trees, and the shallow water does not allow the waves to break out. Honestly, the beaches of Natien and Laem Set are the most beautiful on the east coast of the island. They are not the best option for swimming because of the corals and shallow depth, but all conditions have been created here for relaxing with eyes, nature. Sunrises, azure water, landscapes in style «bounty» from commercials about the tropics - all this is on Natien Beach.
After some time, civilization will get here. In the meantime, four hotels and two vacant lots, that's all the development of the coast on Natyen. Only in two places are the beaches truly isolated - opposite the Camalaya and ShaSa Resort & Residences, Koh Samu hotels. Kamalaya is known for the fact that even in the off-season they have all rooms on the reservation or are occupied, and ShaSa Resort is very jealous of the safety of guests..
Unauthorized access to the territory of ShaSa Resort is prohibited, it itself belongs to the hotels of the luxury segment. That is, not for mere mortals, if in their own words. The hotel's spacious rooms, with excellent soundproofing, its excellent restaurant, large children's playroom, several swimming pools and gorgeous sea views justify the cost of its rooms (from $ 200 per night). Well-groomed beach, to which guests are delivered by electric vehicles, large indoor parking, great exterior design - ShaSa Resort is a great place for a short break on its own beach.

Thong Plu beach hotels
As with Natien, Thong Plu Beach is just a small part, one-third of Thong Plu's main beach, separated by cliffs at the northwestern edge of the island. From the infrastructure in this area there is only a section of the ring road, one observation deck, several Thai shops, stone and wood processing workshops and a horticultural minimarket. Not far from Thong Plu is the administrative center of the island - Nathon, which is about five minutes away by car. Mostly the area is occupied by small resorts and jungle.
Thong Plu Beach is the same along its entire length, both the main and the closed part of it. The sea is very shallow, and the bottom is covered with a scattering of rather sharp stones of various sizes, which can be seen at low tide. The beach is covered with coarse, dark yellow sand in the surf line, and along the grass the sand becomes fine and fluffy. Entry into the water is hampered by stones and algae, and the width of this inconvenience is about 40 meters, so you have to swim to clean water, risking skinning your knees. There is almost no shadow on the beach, palm trees grow far from the water.
Buildings along the main part of Thong Plu are small one-story houses, but the closed part of the beach is located at the foot of the mountain, on which one of the largest, most expensive and luxurious hotels on Koh Samui is built - Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. The geographical position of the hotel allows you to watch sunsets and a little, from around the corner - sunrises, and the distance from the road makes it one of the quietest places on the island.
Four Seasons Resort is built in the form of villas scattered along the mountainside at a great distance from each other, thereby creating comfort zones already inside the hotel. A stunning view of 270 degrees with the sea horizon, excellent service, its own spa, tennis courts, high-quality breakfasts, moving around the hotel by electric cars - here they take good care of the leisure of vacationers. Still, at a price of 1000 dollars per day.

Banyan Tree Samui Beach
You won't be able to stumble upon this beach by chance; you can only learn about it by looking at the island on a satellite map. The beach does not have an official place name and is located between the beaches of Tong Takian and Laem Nan, so I will call it the beach of the Banyan Tree hotel, which is built around this unnamed bay. The infrastructure of the area where the beach is located is the same as that of Tongtakian beach. Very far from the noise of the ring road, on the edge of an island appendix lined with expensive villas and hotels. If you get to the ring road, there will be several small Thai shops and one mini market.
The beach at Banyan Three is surprisingly boring. Large yellow sand covers the entire surface of the coast, there is almost no shadow on the beach, with the exception of tall palms that grow far from the water. The bottom slope is insignificant, the depth increases gradually, and the entrance to the water is cleared of stones and corals. The entire beach is perfectly cleaned and smoothed with a special tool, lined with sun loungers and beach umbrellas. The rocks along the edges of the bay add a little exoticism, but in general - an unremarkable, closed beach.
There is only one hotel around the bay with the beach - Banyan Tree Samui, and the development was global, for other hotels there was not a hundred square meters left. In terms of development scale, Banyan Three is similar to the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. The same luxurious villas, standing on the slopes of the mountain at a considerable distance from each other and moving around the hotel is carried out using electric vehicles.
The hotel belongs to the luxury segment of island hotels, the price tag starts from 20,000 baht per day, so the service here is at its best. Beautiful villas, polite helpful staff, excellent restaurant, cozy private beach, superbly furnished rooms. The location on the mountain also has its advantages, offering guests stunning views of the sea, island and daily sunrises. Banyan Tree Samui has one of the highest ratings in the ratings and is guaranteed to provide the best vacation experience. So that I live like this.

Beach at W-Retreat Koh Samui
I will say right away that the beach is not completely isolated, as in the Banyan Three hotel. Geographically, the W-Retreat Beach lies on the very border between Mae Nam and Bo Phut, and is shaped like an inverted letter «W», in which one half is Maenam and the other half is Bo Phut. However, in reality, this border is located in a place where you just can't get there, and the only road to the beach is blocked by a luxury hotel. The infrastructure of the area is excellent. The ring road is about three minutes away by car, and all the resources available on Bo Phut and Maenam open up there: shops, banks, markets, various services. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Samui airport, to the pier in Nathon - about 40 minutes, provided that there are no traffic jams.
The W-Retreat's beach is one of the nicest on the island. It is looked after, cleaned, smoothed and looked after throughout the day. As in Maenam, the entire coast is hidden in the shade of a palm grove, between the trees of which there are massage houses, sun loungers and a rental of marine equipment. At the entrance to the beach, there is a notice that strongly recommends not breaking coral. I myself did not swim with a mask, but most likely there is something to see for snorkelers. The entrance to the beach is closed for outsiders, so there are very few visitors to the beach, those who were able to pass security or came along the shore.
There is only one hotel around the beach. There is also a vacant lot, overgrown with grass, on which something will most likely be built later, but, for now, W-Retreat is a monopolist and sole owner here. Some of the buildings are located on a small flat area of the coast, and the main part of the hotel stands on the side of a mountain. In order to be able to go down to the sea, the hotel built a road on stilts, quite steep, but passable for any car and motorbike.
W-Retreat Koh Samui features a bold, modern design. The hotel offers chic villas, an excellent gym, and a restaurant that serves excellent food. The hotel has great service and trained staff who memorize everything that concerns you personally - names, events and what you like to drink. At different times of the year, the price for daily accommodation floats from 30 to 90 thousand baht. Of all the hotels with their own beaches, this one leaves the most blissful impression..
