Rosa Peak observation deck on Rosa Khutor - only in good weather
The Rosa Peak observation deck is located on the territory of the Rosa Khutor ski complex, at an altitude of 2320 meters - the top of the Aibga mountain range. Not the most important one, as I understand it, because in the neighborhood there is also the Kamenny Stolb peak as much as 2509 meters high, where the lifts no longer go. At Rosa Peak, people unload to slide down one of the two slopes of the ridge. Even those who do not consider themselves an athlete and come to Rosa Peak in ordinary clothes have something to do..
The first is the restaurant «Height 2320», and the second is the Rosa Peak observation deck. You can also gaze at people with skis and snowboards or touch the special mountain equipment that makes trails, but the main thing why people come here is beauty.

Rosa Peak observation deck
I told about the restaurant in more detail and with photos in another article, but about Rose Peak I can write the following: if the sky is covered with clouds, you don't need to go here for beautiful views. Yes, this is a terrible commonplace, but we are all human, and we usually hope for the best outcome even in the most unfavorable environment. As in my case, when the first four days of my arrival were rich in rain, fog and cloudy sky. I climbed Rosa Peak several times, but to purposefully stagger without equipment, gaze at the views and drink tea in a restaurant - I escaped only once.
And already from the Olympic Village it was clear to me that there was most likely nothing to do above, and even if Rose Peak broke through the clouds, nothing would be visible from top to bottom. However, the Russian-Israeli maybe prevailed, and I went to the funicular. The entire ascent took at most 30 minutes with one change, which I was very happy about - some terribly sweaty comrades were riding with me in the cabin (winter, a lot of skiers). Having caught the fresh air and knocked about with the athletes in line (in the morning there are really crowds like in the subway), I went out at the top, near the restaurant Height 2320. The observation deck Rosa Peak is located behind the restaurant.
A large space with railings and wooden decking is built on the edge of a cliff I never saw. The hopes that the clouds would dissipate with the morning sun did not come true, and I had to be content with two figures of Bigfoot with skis and a board, as well as a diagram of the Caucasus Range. I, of course, did not give up so immediately and spent another hour and a half in the restaurant, drinking tea on herbs and looking out the window at the dazzling white snow. I didn’t wait, I was upset and moved back to the ski lift, which slowly crawled down and in ten seconds I suddenly found myself under a ceiling of gray clouds - and here I got my panoramic view of the ridge and valley. Even without peaks and in fits and starts - it was amazing!
Rose Peak in winter
In winter, there are mostly skaters, not goggles, after all, a winter resort. It seems to me that in winter, few people come here for a walk. And housing prices are more expensive, and there can be really a lot of people, especially on the days of events.
Rose peak in summer
But in the summer, everything is much simpler. There are many hikers who have come to wander the mountains on the fingers of one hand, so there are mainly vacationers from Sochi and Adler, who came for one day (usually without an overnight stay) to simply climb Rosa Peak to the observation deck. Therefore, there are no queues for the lift, you can usually even take a ride in a booth in splendid isolation to fully enjoy the silence and views.
Information to visit
In winter, you can climb here with a regular ski pass, which is bought for skiing. It is valid for the entire cable car, for all lifts in Rosa Khutor, including the recently opened South Slope. I highly recommend riding there, good and beautiful tracks. Be sure to take sunglasses in winter - snow hurts your eyes and it is impossible to normally see anything around.
The price for a ski pass in winter depends on the month and the number of days required: 2650-2950 rubles per day per person. In the spring from April 9, 1500 rubles. If you take for several days at once, or a season, then the price of one day falls, and the cheapest «Seasonal», but then you have to live in Sochi to recapture it.
In the summer, you just buy a walking ski pass to the very top - Rosa Peak. It costs 1590 rubles / person for 1 descent and 1 ascent, including the Edelweiss lift on the South Slope. It is also worth a ride there, because there are several beautiful waterfalls. Also, in the summer, they open a route to Kamenny Stolb (2509 m), about 1-1.5 hours on foot from Rosa Peak, I recommend.
