Menara Tower in Kuala Lumpur - 6th tallest in the world
When is the best time to climb all sorts of observation platforms? That's right, in clear and sunny weather. But this is not about us, as in the situation with Olympic tower in Munich, we were out of luck. On the first day of our arrival at Kuala Lumpur the weather was the most excellent, but we chilled out all day after a long and sleepless journey. And what was our surprise that the other 3 days it rained and the city was covered with a haze of clouds.
A tall and thick tree grows near the tower, which is almost a hundred years old. When the Menara was built, the locals did not allow it to be cut down, and now it grows nearby, and a Bukit Nanas park was made around it.

Menara Tower in Kuala Lumpur
Menara (Menara Kuala Lumpur or Menara KL Tower) is a 421 meter high television tower, considered the 4th highest in the world among such towers, according to the builders themselves. True, their opinion differs from Wikipedia, due to the fact that progress does not stand still, and higher towers were built, and in reality it is now the 6th tallest in the world..
However, for us, it is not so much the height of the Menara tower itself that is important, but the height of its observation deck, and here Menara will be in one of the first places, at least exactly above the Ostankino tower..
A little upset because of the bad weather, we still climbed the Menara tower. We steadfastly waited for the rain to end, sitting in a cafe at the foot and gobbling up the food we brought with us, but we didn’t wait. Above, the rain was not visible, but the entire horizon turned out to be shrouded in white fog, which is a pity, because there is a chain of mountains.
Nevertheless, we have not regretted the time and money spent. I certainly do, because my element is air, and I love all sorts of heights. We were taller than all the skyscrapers in the area, well, except perhaps Petronas Twin Towers (Petronas).
At the entrance to the Menara observation deck, everyone is given a media player with a screen and headphones, with which the virtual guide will lead you on a tour in Russian! There are other languages, if after long wanderings you have already forgotten how to perceive Russian speech. There is only one difficulty here - it is quite difficult to photograph, listen and find the narrated sights of Kuala Lumpur outside the window at the same time.
I was also pleased that at almost every checkpoint (viewpoint of the tour) there are free binoculars, and you can see what the chef is doing with his secretary in the nearest skyscraper.
Cultural Village
In addition to the observation deck, the ticket comes with a supplement to choose from: Cultural Village or Animal zone + F1 slot + pony ride. Our choice fell on the village, because we «smart», and it was about time to walk in the open air.
Most of all we were pleased with the bamboo house. About twenty years ago, I could only dream of this, building huts in the trees with other guys.
After inspecting all the huts, and finally getting wet, the caring staff of the village offered us an umbrella. Just in time.
Bukit Nanas
If you have time, check out Bukit Nanas Park at the foot of the tower. The entrance to it is difficult to find, and it is easier to ask. For reference - the passage between the small gray building and the entrance to the Animal Zone leads just to the entrance to the park.
Bukit Nanas is a corner of the local jungle in the city center, where you can get a little idea of the local flora without leaving the metropolis. It is small and starts with suspension bridges. For a moment, it seems that you are in the past or in a movie «A Sound of Thunder» based on the story of the same name by Ray Bradberry.
Note that it closes at 6pm. Apparently they close it on purpose until dark.
