How we live on Koh Samui - harsh Thai everyday life :)
We were asked here to tell how we now live in Thailand and what we do. In short, there seems to be nothing special to tell - a continuous life, only swimming in the sea was added :) And in general, somehow it did not become easier in comparison with Moscow. Although, we left there at the beginning of autumn, and even from my mother, who helped us in every possible way, therefore we compare not with dank and gray Moscow, but with summer Moscow, which is not the same thing at all. Would come from winter, the contrast would be more noticeable. Well, I will try to describe a little our everyday life on Koh Samui. The post is not informational, but about life ...
The content of the article
Thought it would be easier
I won't say that we initially counted on Thailand as a panacea, but we still thought it would be a little easier than in Moscow. Perhaps it was an illusion, or maybe it’s just enough of its own nuances, I don’t know. What good did we get:
- We stopped cooking for ourselves, because we are sitting on fruits and Thai food from a cafe (we cook Yegor, of course).
- Cleaning in the house is minimal: he swept up the pier, but washed the dishes. Plus once a week a cleaning lady comes.
- You don't need to warmly dress Yegor on the street, it took us a lot of time.
- Yegor is in the fresh air all day, because the doors and windows are open. Now you don't need to walk with him on purpose. Instead of walking, now trips / walks to the sea.
- On the street, everyone is friendly, they lisp with Yegor, and do not scare. Well, and the sun cheers up.
Something I am writing thesis again, although this is not information. Perhaps Daria should write such posts, it will be emotionally confused, but not so dry.
Of the bad, I don't even know what to list. Basically, this is one point - the soul is not calm, that we are not really dealing with Egor, then the sleep is bad, so we sleep in shifts, then we eat badly, that one feeding takes two hours, then our teeth are teething. As a result, it simply does not work out, there is not enough time. Moreover, the fatigue that has accumulated over almost two years is making itself felt. But there are no such hopeless days when you want to shoot yourself :) Another of the not very comfortable things - housing here is not very much for Yegor, we are used to not tracking him at all in our apartment, what he is doing, because all the dangers are minimized , and here an eye and an eye are needed - and they can climb somewhere, or they will shandrah on a tile out of the blue.
On this visit, we repeatedly catch ourselves thinking that we want our own home, a base where we would settle and live permanently, and travel only occasionally and for a short time. Because it became very difficult to ride with Yegor, there is no buzz, only torment. Ideally, you need to live in one place, even without moving from one house to another. Then there will be no need to disassemble / assemble things, there is no need to look for new cafes and shops around each time, and most importantly, it will be possible to buy all sorts of things into the house and equip it taking into account our peculiarities. It is commonplace to cover the entire floor with something softer, but you won't do it once every 1-2 months, it's expensive.
I wanted a base where it is summer all year round (not lower than +10), the sea ocean is available by car and a good center / teacher for classes is nearby. In December we will go to Bangkok for 1-2 months at the Special Needs Center, and finally we will draw our conclusion regarding Thailand in terms of classes. Many here asked what kind of center it was. To clarify, this is not related to treatment, this is a place where special children are dealt with. Then I'll tell you everything, I think that parents of special children will be interested in this experience, if, of course, it turns out to be positive. Well, and then, either again at sea (Samui, Krabi?), Or somewhere else, it's too early to think.
Our way of life
The days are similar to one another, as in Moscow, only the surroundings are different :) In the morning we go to the sea every day, or Daria and Yegor, and I work, or I and Yegor, if the night was trashy, then Daria sleeps off. When we lived in our the first house on the very shore, it was very convenient - you leave the house and immediately on the shore. Usually we walked to the side for a couple of hundred meters to the village of our friends. There they have a large tree on the beach, which creates a shade, under which many frolicking children and their parents gather. Cheerful company :) And on some days, a very tasty magic hand made pie appeared there and we got a piece.
In second house we have moved recently, and have not yet entered the rhythm. While we are driving to the beach all together. Although I expect that Daria will walk to the sea on foot, it will take 10-15 minutes to walk. By the way, if you come to Koh Samui and are looking for accommodation, you can see the personally compiled directory of houses on Koh Samui, where more than 80 houses with a map and a photo. Housing for a short period, while you are looking for a house, you can buy it through RoomGuru, this is just a mega-service, you can immediately see in which booking system (Booking, Agoda, Hotels, etc.) the hotel you need is cheaper. We also have our own detailed review. best hotels in Koh Samui.
Several times a week we go to Tesco and Big C. We try to combine several things at once: buy groceries, eat at the food court, and crawl away to Yegor at the local playground. The latter is not quite ordinary, we discovered it for ourselves quite recently - slides, a dry pool, a bunch of different obstacles.
Where have you been
In fact, very few have traveled, especially in full force. So, all together, in fact, were only in Paradise Park, a couple of times at the night market on Maenam (which is once a week) and at the jazz festival in Chaweng (I don't count trips to supermarkets). Separately, I also visited Big Buddha, twice to the Magic Garden, and so easily drove around the neighborhood. More of the events - took place meeting of readers in children's cafe Mickey Mickey. And so we constantly meet someone on the street, who reads or read us, it's funny :)
