Bacco Beach - two cafes, casuarines and kiters

This beach is in the Na Jomtien area, which follows Jomtien to the south and administratively is already outside the city of Pattaya. Accordingly, the places here are much quieter and more rustic..

To Bakko Beach from Sukhumvit there is a road several hundred meters long, along which there is practically nothing but forest and swamps. She leads to two restaurants, which are the main highlight of the beach - the Italian restaurant Bakko Beach and the Glass House restaurant with a glass house in the center of an open veranda..

There are several nice quiet hotels with green surroundings around them. If you go to the beach, then towards the Ambassador Hotel, to the left, there will be a long casuarin grove and a kite spot behind it. In the low tide season, around March, a strong wind blows here, which is exactly what kiters need.

Beach description

With a length of about one kilometer, Bakko Beach looks like a good option for a beach holiday for those who do not like city noise and do not need a lot of beach activities. Also, those who have lived in Pattaya for a long time come to the beach - first of all, to sit in one of the two beach restaurants, or lie in silence and solitude on the sand under the casuarins.

True, the beach does not have a large number of sun loungers under umbrellas for rent, shops, beach vendors and jet skis, but it should be somewhat different from the city beaches of Pattaya. There are several rather expensive hotels in the beach area.

They are a little out of the way relative to the center of life, but, on the other hand, it is not far from Sukhumvit, and it is already easy to get to anywhere in Pattaya using your own transport or taxi, or by route tuk-tuk..

There are completely secluded and more crowded places on the beach. There are few strangers here, mostly restaurant and hotel guests. From the side of Pattaya, the beach ends where the river flows into the sea, on the other hand, it is, in fact, also limited by a small river with a kitesurfing school on the shore, behind which the Ambassador and his beach are already visible through the vacant lots..

Entering the water, depth and waves

At high tide, entry into the water is comfortable, rather sharp. In season, the water can be said to be clean. Out of season, when the tide begins (end of February - March) and strong winds with waves, the water becomes cloudy yellow. Swimming at low tide is not very convenient, too small.

At the same time, at the deserted end of the beach, closest to the Ambassador, kiters train, their parachutes periodically fall into the water with a loud bang. Better to stay a little away from them and swim in front of restaurants, in the center or at the opposite end of the beach..

Sun beds and shade

At the Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Resort & Spa, sun loungers under umbrellas are for hotel guests, and tables and sun loungers with umbrellas under casuarins are at the Glass House and Bacco Beach restaurants. Further in the direction of the Ambassador along the beach, there is a strip of tall casuarines. They give shade almost all day, but grow far from the water. Right on the beach, next to the sea, there is little shadow.

Infrastructure

Apart from two nice and atmospheric restaurants, Glass House and Bacco Beach, there is essentially nothing else on the beach. There are practically no sun beds with sun loungers for rent, retail outlets and standard beach entertainment too. There are one and a half benches next to the Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Resort & Spa .

But, by and large, there is no entertainment or tourist infrastructure. At least for those who are not guests of hotels and restaurants located on the beach. If you came to sit in the two above-named cafes or settled in a hotel on the beach, then all the amenities of course will be.

Of the tourist attractions, not far from the beach there is the Alangkarn show theater, a floating market, an elephant trekking place, as well as, a little further towards Sattahib, the Ambassador Hotel, next to which on Sukhumvit there are many shops with food and souvenirs, shops 7- Eleven and Family Mart and even a large entertainment complex Mimosa, with boutiques and transvestite shows.

Between Bakko Beach and Ambassador Beach is located KiteBoarding Asia KBA Pattaya - kitesurfer school.

Houses and hotels on the beach

In the center of the beach there are nice hotels for a quiet and measured holiday:

  • Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Resort & Spa
  • The Journey Resort

A little deeper, away from the beach, there are expensive villas Viewtalay Marina and Baan Calypso .

In addition to them, there are several more hotels and condos, for example

  • Sea Falcon Hotel
  • View Talay Seaside Condo

There are no houses for rent right on the beach. Between the sea and Sukhumvit, there are a couple of villages with expensive villas. Accommodation at affordable prices (rooms, apartments and houses) can be found on Huay Yai Road, but they will all be at a distance of 2 km to the beach.

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on the excellent Roomguru service. He will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

For example, here are direct links to the hotels listed above:

How to find the beach

Administratively, the beach is located outside the city of Pattaya, in the south of the center, closer to Sattahib. This is the Na Jomtien area, 10 km from the center of Pattaya. To get to the beach, you need to drive south along Sukhumvit, towards the Nong Nooch tropical garden, a little later than the floating market, directly opposite the Alangkarn theater, which will be on the left, to the right is the 10th street of Na-Jomtien.

If you go from the center of Pattaya, you must first turn around. The U-turn is located 600 m further along Sukhumvit. From the U-turn you can also drive to the beach, to the other end, to the B2 Sea View hotel. There are signs at the turn to 10th Street to Glass House, a restaurant right on the beach. After the exit from Sukhumvit, after 800 m, a narrow straight road will lead you directly to the sea.

If you don't use a taxi or personal transport, getting to the beach won't be much more difficult. On Sukhumvit there are white tuk-tuk. True, if you go from the center of Pattaya, you will either have to cross the road (which is not desirable), or get out about 700 m before turning to 10th Street and cross Sukhumvit along the viaduct. And then walk along the road and along 10th street, only about 1 kilometer of the way to the beach.

Except from Sukhumvit, you can walk to the beach by the beach of the Ambassador Hotel, Bakko Beach is located north of this hotel complex, i.e. you need to go in the direction of Pattaya, about one and a half kilometers.
