Haad Khuad Beach is rarely called by tourists with a Thai place name, preferring the more common Bottle Beach or Bottle Beach, or Bottle Beach. By the way, Thai “khuad” and english “bottle“ that is what they mean - a bottle. Bottle Beach is located in the very north of Koh Phangan, in a secluded cove between two steep rocky shores.
Getting to Bottle Beach is not so easy, so there are usually few people here, which the lucky ones rejoice in, who have been given one of the most beautiful beaches of Phangan for their undivided use..

Beach description
Bottle Beach is an almost straight line of a wide (about 20 meters), shady beach with light yellow, fluffy sand. To the right and to the left, it rests against almost sheer cliffs, which excludes the possibility of walking along the coast from another beach. Approximately in the center of the beach, a small river flows into the bay, which almost dries up closer to April, turning into a channel with stagnant water.
But during seasonal rains, the river occupies its entire channel, which in some places reaches up to 10 meters wide. At the same time, the beach is eroded into two halves, between which it will no longer be possible to pass..
Entering the water, depth and waves
The shore at Bottle Beach is flat, without any significant drops along its entire length. Provided, of course, that now the monsoons and waves have not partially washed the beach before the formation of small cliffs. In a calm season, the sea evenly scatters sand all over the beach, fills the gully from the river and generally behaves decently, but waves do happen.
The shore goes under water quite steeply. At low tide, a two-meter strip of sand with a clean bottom, without stones and corals, is exposed. The depth of the beach is one of the most pleasant in Phangan, ten meters from the shore you can already swim vertically.
Sun beds and shade
I have not noticed any rental services on Bottle Beach, so I will assume that all the sun loungers in the frame belong to nearby resorts and guesthouses, the territory of which is separated from the rest of the beach by low stone walls. In the same place, in a private area, there is 99 percent of the beach shade..
The managers of some resorts have taken care of planting additional palm trees on the beach strip, but so far not even cats can hide under them, so you can find shelter from the sun on Bottle Beach, but not along its entire length..

Infrastructure
Like most beaches isolated from civilization, the infrastructure of Haad Khuad is the services and facilities that are offered by five to six resorts in the area. A couple of restaurants and cafes have separate premises, massage houses and bars. Equipment rental, travel agency services, currency exchange and other amenities for tourists will have to ask at the reception of one of the resorts.
All of them are located at a distance of about 100 meters from the coastline. Behind the hotels there is nothing but a wild jungle and a very bad dirt road.
There are no shops or attractions on Bottle Beach. The nearest store is located on one of the neighboring beaches of Tong Nai Pan, which is about 8 kilometers along mountain dirt and not the easiest roads. Honestly, the Haad Khuad beach itself is such a closed, hard-to-reach attraction in Phangan, to reach which along the coast is already a real adventure..
Therefore, they either come here just to look at the Bottle Beach itself. Or they settle in for a long time, do not remember about shops, and in general - for other attractions they go to other parts of the island.
Closer to the left edge of Bottle Beach, there is a café-bar with a themed design.

How to find the beach
Bottle Beach has its own marker on Google maps, and there is one on my map at the end of this post. There are three ways to get here:
- by scooter to the beach
- by scooter to the trail, and then on foot over the rocks
- on the boat
On a scooter, you can easily get along the wide track to a nondescript exit onto a dirt road. The turn is marked on my map, as is the last stretch of flat dirt road, after which a serious test of your driving skills begins. Moreover, I categorically do not recommend taking risks on passenger cars - front-wheel drive will not pull.
Four-wheel drive only, hardcore only. Scooter drivers should not tempt fate either on dry stone chips and longitudinal gullies, downhill and with sharp turns. Moreover, with a passenger or, God forbid, with children.
All inexperienced motorbikers and car drivers will have to walk along the trail with signs to Bottle Beach, and for reliability, it is strewn with plastic bottles along its entire length. This is actually rubbish, but you can use it as a guide..
Trekking is quite simple, but from habit, yes, in the heat, you can catch dehydration - stock up on water, just do not throw bottles along the way. The trail ends at Bottle Beach itself.
As you can imagine, the most cheating method is a taxi boat, but it is also the most expensive. The price of the ferry will increase according to your distance from the end point, so I would suggest combining land and water transport. Get to the nearest neighboring beach to Haad Khuad, where there is a human road, for example to Haad Thong Nai Pan Noi.
There, leave the transport and change to a taxi boat, which for 150-200 baht will take you to your destination without any adventure. Just keep in mind, you need several people, one for this amount will not be lucky. Alternatively, you can still swim with Chaloklama.
