Our trip to the Azov fortress happened, one might say, spontaneously on the way to Taman Peninsula. And I must admit, when we went there, we knew little about this city and about the fortress itself, more precisely about the rampart. Just when we were in Tanais Museum Reserve, we were advised to look here if we were on the way. Which is what we did. I can't say that it is worth it, but if you drive by, then you can call.
Fortress Azov
To date, almost nothing has remained of the Azov fortress itself, only the rampart and the Alekseevsky gate. These structures are now restored and attract quite a lot of tourists; this place seemed to us very quiet and quite picturesque. Picturesque views of the Don River delta open from the rampart, a fairly strong wind blows and here you are standing at a height, there are such vast expanses in front of you and it seems that you are about to take off. And if you don’t want to fly, you can just walk around and take a look at the various ships standing nearby in the port..
