Airport in Yeisk

Airport in Yeisk

The airport in Yeysk, which currently includes an airfield of joint basing of the Russian air forces and the naval aviation, has stopped civil air transportation since December 2012 due to the large-scale reconstruction of the airline. Service staff and airport staff are dismissed. The resumption of passenger flights is planned for 2016.
The airport is serviced by two artificial runways with asphalt concrete covering, 2.5 km and 3.5 km long, and one unpaved runway 1.8 km long. This makes it possible for the airline to receive aircraft of small and medium types: TU-134, YAK-42, CRJ-200. As well as lighter helicopters of all types.

History

In the early 50s of the last century, the first aviation squadron was formed in Yeisk on the basis of the United Krasnodar Aviation Enterprise. And by 1957, a small terminal building was built, as well as passenger transportation to Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don on small-sized aircraft AN-2.
The dawn of the enterprise came in the 80s. Then a new building of the passenger terminal was rebuilt, the geography of flights expanded, and the passenger traffic increased every year..
Flights to Krasnodar, Mariupol, Donetsk departed from here every day. The aviation enterprise was serviced by aircraft of the IL-12, IL-14 type, as well as turboprop aircraft of the Czech manufacturer L-410, which replaced the domestic AN-2.
However, in the early 90s, due to the economic crisis in the country, all passenger services were closed until 2000..
In the early 2000s, flights resumed. Flights to Moscow and St. Petersburg were restored. The airport began to accept aircrafts TU-134, YAK-40, ATR-42 for servicing. Well-known Russian airlines UTair, Karat, Aeroflot have taken a course towards long-term cooperation with the airline.

Perspectives

Currently, a large-scale reconstruction and re-equipment of the airport is underway, in connection with which passenger traffic is temporarily suspended. The company plans its revival, already in a different capacity, in 2016.
At this time, a new training center for naval aviation, as well as a runway with a length of more than 3 kilometers and a width of 100 meters, have already been commissioned. The new runway will be able to accommodate all types of aircraft without restriction.
The reconstruction plan includes the repair of educational buildings and re-equipment with new equipment..
