Despite the fact that this is a promoted and very popular hotel (in fact, for this reason I went here first of all), it is already tired. In general, I want to say right away that I have the opinion that hotel prices in Phangan are too high. On the same Samui for the same money, you can get a better number or service. Nevertheless, if the price suits and the location is pleasant, then you can consider.

Price and booking
Took «Deluxe with balcony» for 2500 baht / day, which is not by the beach. Haad Son Resort also had «Standard Bungalow» for 1800 baht and «Deluxe Beachfront» for 3300 baht / day. These are the prices in January during the peak season. Please note that the reviews did not advise taking some «Deluxe Villa», they say, they are already very old. In summer, when there are few tourists, prices fall by about 2 times.

Interior
3 stars and 7.7 rating. Probably, somewhere it is, although I would put the rating lower, still the price-quality ratio suffers here. Expensive! If it were not for a cozy cove, a pleasant beach and an original restaurant, the hotel would be much less attractive.
So what was my number. It was located on the second floor of a two-story building, which stands right on the shore, count the first line and the scourge front. But my number was just called «Deluxe», but «Deluxe Beachfront» located on the ground floor and has direct access from the balcony to the beach, while the rooms are almost the same. But! the beach in this particular place is unbreakable and consists of a strip of sand and a retaining stone wall. To swim, you need to walk 50-100 metro to the left. Therefore, in my opinion, for «Deluxe Beachfront» there is no point in overpaying.
The room is already slightly shabby, it is clear that the renovation was good, but how many years ago it was unknown. Guys, well, make cosmetic repairs on time and your rating will start to go off scale. Weird people. It is corny that there are no hooks in the bathtub to hang a towel, and those that are, you can see how they look in the photo. The shower head is also not ice, the mode switch was broken. The room smelled of dampness, and on the walls of the balcony outside there was either mold or water stains. But in fairness, I must say that before my arrival, it rained heavily for several months without ceasing, and such that half of the island was flooded.
From technology: small square TV, air conditioning, safe, mini-fridge and that's it. But at the same time, the room lighting is controlled from the remote control near the bed. It's funny, it would be better if a normal TV was hung.

Territory and restaurant
The entire resort is located on the side of a mountain, so the size of the territory is limited, and once again you don't want to walk up and down stairs. Everywhere everything is tidied up and clean, paved paths and all kinds of bushes. Visually beautiful and pleasing to the eye. There is a swimming pool near the large building where the reception and office are located, which is not very popular as there is a beach nearby. Near it there is a seating area with tables and chairs, a billiard table.

The restaurant is pleasant, and the surroundings, and the sunsets, and the location on a small peninsula. We sat there with friends several times in the evenings. True, the food seemed to me quite ordinary, nothing special, but I'm not a gourmet either. No matter how much I do not go to various cafes in Thailand, in terms of food, I feel fine everywhere (well, maybe except for some individual cafes), it remains only to evaluate the interior, atmosphere and appearance. This is all right here. But the breakfasts are so-so, I had breakfast once and decided that I would eat elsewhere. Breakfast cost 200 baht, if not included in the room rate.
By the way, no one bothers to visit Koh Raham restaurant or Secret Beach without checking into a hotel, there is free access. I will have a separate post about this restaurant, as the place is cult.

The main advantage of this hotel is that it is located right next to Secret Beach or as it is also called Haad Son Beach, by the name of the resort. The beach is not the best in Koh Phangan, but by the standards of Koh Phangan it is quite good. On this side of the island, all the beaches, plus or minus, are similar..
However, the beach can be considered a disadvantage if you like total privacy. The fact is that many outsiders come to this beach during the season, but the problem is not in their number (there is enough space for everyone), but in the fact that they take up a parking space and pass through the hotel. Of course, they go along a separate path, and not along bungalows or deluxes, but all the same, the entrance courtyard, albeit from the side, can be annoying for someone.
Nearby is Haad Yao beach, where you can walk on foot, though there will be an ascent and descent, since the whole hotel is on the mountain. Neighboring Haad Salad and Sritanu are also very close if you are on a bike.
