Chiang Mai temples - in the old city (inside the square)
Once upon a time we walked through the temples of Chiang Mai, but somehow our hands did not reach to upload photos. Then I once again walked in the square and also took pictures. In general, so that the material does not disappear, I raise the archives :)
I personally like the old town in Chiang Mai. Narrow streets, pretty quiet around, somehow everything is neat, guesthouses cute and a lot of backers. If you come here for a short time, then the most it is to stop here, this is an excellent base point for viewing all sorts of different Chiang Mai attractions (the hotel can be booked on RoomGuru). But you can also walk around the nearest temples, inside the square. Even I would say it is worth walking, especially if Thai temples have not yet been seen properly.

Wat chedi luang
Almost the most famous and revered temple in Chiang Mai. Built in the 14th century, and the main building here is chedi Luang. At one time, the Emerald Buddha was kept in it, which later came to Laos, and is now located in the complex Royal Palace in Bangkok.
The stupa used to be 90 meters high, but it was destroyed by lightning and now it is 60 meters. In one of the niches there is a copy of the Emerald Buddha. There is also a very old tree growing on the territory, which is a shrine, like all old trees in Thailand. There is another one behind the main temple, Wat Lak Muak. It is smaller, but no less beautiful, especially in the dark. Next to it are the statues of the Reclining and Seated Buddha. In general, I liked walking here in the evening. A bit of a mysterious atmosphere is created due to the old stupa and the lighting. But in the afternoon to me the monk tried to pester :)
Wat phan tao
They are located right next to the previous one and are part of it (albeit on a separate small territory), so you do not need to specifically look for it. It reminds me of some kind of rural temple: the building is wooden, there are straw stupas next to it, near the entrance I was offered to release birds for money, there is a small pond.
Wat phra singh
An ordinary big temple. We sat inside it for about an hour, it was so good. The main building itself is quite typical and similar to all the others, but there are smaller and more beautiful temples. One of them contains the famous statue of Buddha Phra Singh, which means «Buddha in lion pose». The tall building of the library is also very attractive..
There is a monastery on the territory of the Wat Phra Singh temple. Maybe that's why there are so many monks here, everything is full of orange in the eyes. But maybe it was only on my arrival. A mummified monk is allegedly sitting in the Phra Singh temple, but after Madame Tussauds, i know it is made of wax.
Wat chiang man
One of the oldest temples in the city, founded in the 13th century. It seems like even King Meangrai himself lived in it when Chiang Mai was being built. In the temple, or rather in the small viharna, two ancient images of Buddha are kept: the Marble Buddha and the Crystal Buddha. And behind the temple you can see a stupa with elephants. It is not as big as in Chedi Luang, but it also looks tempting (like the old one). This is probably why I do not like too renovated churches, because they look new and modern.
Wat lok molee
Although the temple is not inside the square (on the border of the square), I will also place it here, since I passed it many times, returning from the old city. It's small, but pretty pretty. And in Loy Krathong here little monks (children) frolicked, launching petards and sky lanterns.

Another interesting temple I recommend to see Tunnel Temple Wat Umong and temple on the mountain Wat Doi Suthep overlooking the city.
