Most often, on our Black Sea coast, I have been in Gelendzhik. There was a time when I went there several times a year. We walked around the city itself, and climbed around the neighborhood, and lived in hotels, and in tents. For the first trip, there really is a lot to see. Then it gets boring, and you want something new and unusual. Below is my list of the main attractions in the Gelendzhik region..
By the way, I have a nice post for you - A selection of cheap hotels in Gelendzhik. Chose with a rating and good reviews. You will stay in Gelendzhik for about a couple of weeks, it is better to book in advance, otherwise there will be little good left in the season..

Attractions in Gelendzhik itself
Hippo Water Park
There are three water parks in Gelendzhik. The hippopotamus is often compared by vacationers to the Golden Bay. Unlike the latter, the Behemoth has fewer slides and they are less spectacular. The territory is also small, everything is simpler. But there are no big queues and generally not so many people, the entrance price is lower. That is, this water park as a whole is for visitors less experienced in water entertainment, but at the same time democratic. There are only three swimming pools and 16 slides in Begemot; not all are suitable for smaller children. It's worth a look here for a couple of hours. Among the minuses of the park, visitors note the strong smell of bleach and not the best assortment in the cafes on the territory. The Begemot water park is located in the central part of the resort area of Gelendzhik. For visitors with children about 10 years old, it is important to know that children under 140 cm cannot enter adult slides, and children at this age will no longer be interesting. That is, there will be nothing special to do for such children in the park..
Ticket price: from 550 rubles
Dolphin water park
Dolphin is the smallest of the three water parks located in Gelendzhik. It is located on the waterfront, right next to the beach, not far from the city center. The water park has a children's pool with children's slides and several large attractions (up to 11 meters) for adults. In general, the water park is pleasant and cozy, some people like it even more than Begemot (the second largest water park in Gelendzhik). On the territory there are several cafes, souvenirs, sun loungers, you can go to the beach.
Ticket price: 500 rubles
Aquapark Golden Bay
Golden Bay is the largest water park not only in Gelendzhik, but throughout Russia. The territory of the park is really quite large, there are many slides, including quite extreme ones. In the Golden Bay there is entertainment for children of all ages, and water and ordinary playgrounds. Smaller and easier for young children and more complex for teenagers. For adults, there are several attractions in the park, one kind of inspiring, if not fear, then a kind of inner awe. For example, slides 25 meters high. True, it must be admitted that in other countries there are, of course, more intricate water attractions. In addition to all kinds of slides in the park, there are many sun loungers, pools with hydromassage and artificial waves, cafes, and snack stands. Among the disadvantages of the park are the high price of an entrance ticket, queues for attractions (especially in summer) and generally excessive crowding..
Ticket price: from 1000 rubles per adult
Dolphinarium
Dolphinarium in Gelendzhik is small, no pretensions. But the program of the performance is good, it will be interesting for both children and adults to watch. From the first rows, especially from places in the corners of the pool, it will be seen better, but in the process, splashes will surely arrive, so you need to be prepared for this, at least morally. You can also take seats on the balcony, from there you can also see everything quite well, since the hall itself is small. There are no seat numbers on the tickets, so it is better to arrive a little early so that you can choose where to sit. After the show, which features dolphins and dolphins, a walrus and a fur seal, you can swim and take pictures with the dolphins - for a fee. It is quite high, as in the rest of the dolphinariums offering this service. Swimming with dolphins is great fun, but not very budgetary.
Ticket price: 900 rubles
Gallery White Horse
The White Horse Gallery in Gelendzhik is an interesting and original place on the theme of respect for nature, art and creativity. This is a museum of modern art, all exhibits and installations of which are made, in fact, from garbage: packaging materials and old things and pieces of various objects. The purpose of these works of art is not only to encourage the viewer to think and create, but also to draw attention to environmental issues. The gallery is private, its creator has been engaged in social activities for several years, its goal is to make the surrounding nature at least a little cleaner, and the level of people's culture is higher. The gallery also has a permanent exhibition, various exhibitions, seminars, festivals are regularly held, and an international school of environmental art operates. The gallery is located at the hostess's house, there is a shop at the museum where you can buy paintings and master classes by the artist.

Museum of History and Local Lore
The museum is located on the embankment of Gelendzhik and tells about the history of the region, in its broadest sense. The exposition is small and completely standard for this kind of museums: flora and fauna of the region, a little archeology, ancient life, pre-revolutionary history, the Great Patriotic War, etc. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are also various temporary exhibitions. Since the history, culture and nature of the region is rich, it is quite possible to go to the Gelendzhik Museum of History and Local Lore and get acquainted. With a guided tour, visiting the exposition will, of course, be more interesting.

Embankment with sculptures
The Gelendzhik embankment, which is about 8 kilometers long, is a pleasant place for walking and cycling. The embankment is paved with tiles, there is a dedicated bike path and bike rental points. In the central part of the embankment it is more noisy and crowded, there are many cafes of various kinds, loud music. In the area of the fat cape, cafes are more decent, but in the opposite side there are not many of them and the area is generally quieter. Along the embankment, in the daytime and in the evening, you can find a large number of not only catering establishments, but also all kinds of entertainment, both for adults and for children. There are trampolines, playgrounds, attractions, flower beds and fountains. Usually, the embankment is clean, in the evenings it is illuminated throughout. The safari park zoo is also a rehabilitation center for rescued animals. Tigers, monkeys, lions and other animals live in spacious open enclosures, in conditions close to their natural environment. Some of them are fed. There are transparent tunnels through the enclosures and bridges above them. In addition to communicating with animals, in the park you can ride a cable car and go up to the observation deck, from where you can enjoy an excellent view of the surroundings. The length of the cable car is more than one and a half kilometers, from the open seats, breathtaking vistas and views open up. The gate lighthouse is one of the few historical sights of Gelendzhik and the oldest building in the city. The lighthouse was built at the end of the 19th century, in the Art Nouveau style. There are doors in the tower of the building. The lighthouse is located in the very center of the embankment, behind a fence. You cannot go inside, so it remains to admire the attraction from a distance. Next to the lighthouse there is a sculptural monument to the lighthouse. In the evenings, you can see the red and green light that flashes the lighthouse. Ships passing by Tonky Cape first see green light, and when passing the leading gate - red. Lighthouse light visible 9 miles offshore.
Amusement park
The city amusement park in Gelendzhik is located very conveniently, right on the embankment. Thanks to this, it enjoys stable popularity among vacationers. There are not very many attractions in the park - mainly for children from 6 to 12 years old, but there are a couple of extreme ones. In addition to the classics in the form of a Ferris wheel, slot machines and an autodrome, there are also more innovative entertainment from other countries. Children will be interested in trampolines, water attractions, animation performances with contests. In the evenings, discos and entertainment shows are held here. In general, this is a classic amusement park on the embankment of the resort town.

The complex has been open for quite some time, in 2005. The main attraction of the park is a cable car with a length of more than a kilometer, which takes passengers to the upper part of the park in about half an hour. Since the seats are open, there are usually a lot of impressions, especially for those who go upstairs in the evening. In the park, at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, there is a several observation deck, from where a panorama of Gelendzhik Bay and the city opens, and a Ferris wheel from which you can contemplate breathtaking views of the surroundings. At the top of the park, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, from horseback riding to a beer party in a nightclub. What to see in the vicinity of Gelendzhik
Mount Nexis
An excellent place, not far from Gelendzhik, where there are two dolmens (Lunny and Solnechny), and from where a beautiful view of Gelendzhik opens, especially at sunset. Climbing the mountain is carried out from the village of Svetly, in about an hour you can slowly climb. The descent takes 2 times less time. For the lazy or not prone to physical exertion, there is jeep when taken by car directly to the point. More about Mount Nexis.
Pshad waterfalls
On the Pshada River and its tributaries, there are the so-called Pshad waterfalls, a large group of waterfalls, most of which are quite small. The path to the waterfalls is rather difficult and long, not every transport will go upstream from the Pshada village. The river gorge itself is very picturesque, as is always the case with wildlife. Waterfalls ranging from 1 meter to 9 meters high can be seen along the entire path along the river. The largest waterfall, it is also the lowest, is called Olyapkin, 9 meters high. Another large waterfall, about 7 meters high, is the farthest of all. The rest are smaller. Pshad waterfalls are quite a popular attraction of these places; tourists are brought here. Organized groups deliver to the waterfalls in the back of GAZ trucks, which is quite extreme in itself. The road to the waterfalls goes through very beautiful and distinctive places, so this excursion is more valuable as a process than as a goal. Since you need to walk over stones, roots and water, you need to wear sports shoes.
Pshad dolmens, farm «Dolmen»
Who built the dolmens and why is still unknown. There are many theories on this score, but we may never know the final clues. In addition, the dolmens themselves are quite different from each other and may have been built at very different times. There are versions that dolmens were built for burial or for meditation, and maybe even for habitation - by small creatures. One way or another, but the work for the construction actually had to be done a lot. Therefore, the builders clearly had at least some goal. It should be noted that these stone structures date back more than two thousand years BC. and along the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory there are an impressive number of them, also more than two thousand. True, many are in hard-to-reach places, partially or completely destroyed by people. Most of the dolmens available for inspection are right next to Gelendzhik.. Dolmen Map.
There are several dozen dolmens in the Pshada river basin, most of which, however, have been destroyed. Tourists mainly visit the dolmens of the Bambakov farm, the Patriarch dolmen and the Dolmen Village. You can go to the latter from the village of Pshada along the path along the river. If desired, you can hire a UAZ in the village, which will take you to the dolmens and to the Pshad waterfalls, which are located further up the river. Dolmen Patriarch is the most famous, because it is the closest of all, if you go further, you can see a group of 8 more, this is the so-called Dolmen Village. True, not all of them have survived to this day in a completely intact state. Since there are a lot of dolmens scattered over a large and difficult-to-pass territory, although the places are beautiful, many still prefer a visit to a private farm to such a hike. «Dolmen», owned by the Bambakov family. If you go from Gelendzhik, you will turn to it before reaching Pshada. The farm has four dolmens at once and has all the tourist infrastructure: paths, cafes, shops, a pond, an apiary selling honey. Dolmens on the territory of the farm are given the names: Maya, Tor, Khan and Tenderness. It is believed that Maya helps in love, Han gives health, Thor helps to find success, and Tenderness is associated with the health of children. Of course, no one knows how things really are, who built these dolmens and when, but not a single gorge can do without a beautiful legend in these parts, let alone such mysterious buildings as dolmens. Dolmens of the Janet River and the Renaissance Village
The valley of the Janet River with its dolmens is considered a place of power. Therefore, all sorts of Anastasievites, Hare Krishnas, hippies and other seekers and lovers of spiritual practices almost constantly live here in a tent camp. The village of Vozrozhdenie, next to which dolmens are located, is located 20 km from Gelendzhik, on the Zhane River, which flows from the mountains to the sea. In the river valley, there are, among others, four famous dolmens, which have their own names and properties attributed to them. This is a well-known and popular place among tourists. The trail along the river has a length of about three kilometers. On the way, you can meet tents with souvenirs and other goods necessary for a tourist.. More about Janet.
Waterfalls on the river Janet
If you continue your journey and walk from the dolmens further along the Janet channel, you will see that it forms several beautiful cascading waterfalls and natural pools-bowls filled with water, in which you can swim. The waterfalls are not very large in height, about 10 meters, but quite picturesque. The river with tributaries and its valley is a popular tourist destination. During the season there are many groups of tourists, the trade in souvenirs and all sorts of edible goods is in full swing, which, however, is not particularly recommended to buy - there are many cases of poisoning. The first, the nearest waterfall, is located almost immediately behind the parking lot. He's not very impressive. The next, cascading waterfall is located three kilometers upstream and can be reached along a civilized path. But then you have to go directly along the channel. The names of the waterfalls are very romantic: Emerald, Chalice of Love, Chalice of Aphrodite ... In general, thanks to not only the waterfalls, but also the nearby dolmens, the general spirit of the place, with its mounds and finds of marine sediments, a get-together of yogis and other informals and spiritual seekers, the atmosphere is here very interesting, inviting and peaceful, well worth a few kilometers of walking. By the way, the trail is quite simple to walk, it does not require special training or equipment, you can go here with your children..
Mount Shahan waterfalls
The waterfalls of Mount Shakhan are located about 30 kilometers southeast of Gelendzhik. This is the area where the headwaters of the Abin and Janet rivers are located. You can get to them both independently and with a traditional excursion tour, which usually includes a visit to a dolmen, a shooting location for episodes of the Storm Gate film and a wine tasting. There are a lot of waterfalls along the river, in the valley, it is better to go to them not in dry weather, so that the water flow is more intense, but not after rain, since the road is very washed out, in this case it becomes either impossible or very difficult to get to the waterfalls ... The waterfalls are beautiful in themselves (like all natural attractions), but they are small in height and can dry up almost completely in the heat. In the summer season, there are a lot of tourists near the waterfalls, who are brought up in groups in jeeps. Since you need to go up and over rough terrain to the waterfalls, so you should wear sports shoes, not flip-flops. More about Thunderstorm Gate.
Gebius waterfalls
Three large waterfalls of the Teshebs River (they are called both Teshebsky and Gebiussky - after the name of the mountain in the area of which they are located) have their own names: Shnurok, Grotto and Devil's Mouth. They are located near the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka, where the river, descending from Mount Gebius, flows into the sea. From the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka, you need to drive about 10 minutes by car (6 km) to the entrance with parking. The walking path to the waterfalls is quite long, about five kilometers; it is rather difficult to climb the stairs to the second and third waterfalls. Therefore, it is better to take a small snack with you on the road and wear comfortable closed shoes. There are 7 waterfalls on the river, but only three of them are large. Teshebskie waterfalls are the most visited tourist place in the area. Many travel agencies take excursions to them, it is also not difficult to get to them on your own transport, therefore there are a lot of people at the waterfalls during the season. There is also a dolmen and an ostrich farm in the waterfall area. From the parking lot at the beginning of the walking route and the ecological post, where money is collected for entering the natural park, a pedestrian path begins, on both sides of which there are barbecues, cafes and all kinds of trading stalls. Further along the gorge, the trail is equipped with benches, gazebos and bridges. Where you need to climb the mountain, after the first large waterfall, a rather steep staircase with a handrail rises. Gebius waterfalls are one of the highest in the region of Bolshoy Gelendzhik and Tuapse. The largest of the three falls is 16 meters high. The best time to visit the waterfalls is from April to mid-June, when they are most abundant and beautiful, and there are not very many tourists.. More about Gebius waterfalls.
