How to move to live in a village or become a fossil hunter?
The more I travel, the more I become interested in people: how they live, how they came to this way of life, what they do, and so on. Therefore, I am very glad that one day we made the decision to use the opportunity to stay with someone, be it our reader or couchsurfing. And now I constantly pay attention to how strongly the perception of a city depends on the person who accepts us. The first time I felt it when we were in Belaya Kalitva. Honestly, it is unlikely that we ourselves, when visiting on our own, would pay attention to various corners and surroundings of this city. And it's not even about some «chips» a specific place and stories about it, but rather in the fact that during conversations, you can feel how people live here in general, so to speak, learn a little life from the inside and join it.
In the project's boundaries Russia in 365 days, Elena Demina, who lives in the village of Kamennomostsky (Khadzhokh), invited us to visit. We gladly agreed, because it is really interesting how they live in mountain villages (we have already written about the foothills in Apsheronsk), and besides, we have long wanted to look at the Lagonaki plateau at a conscious age.

How people leave for the countryside
Elena moved to live in Khadzhokh from St. Petersburg 10 years ago. It happened at will «case». Initially, she bought a small village house, as a dacha, and herself came to Adygea in the summer to organize a travel agency in the future. She took groups, went on excursions, there was a constant stream of people, the locals were only amazed at her success. The end of the season came and it was necessary to return home to St. Petersburg and finally open my own tourist office. Upon returning to the big city and the crowd, after a while she was covered with her head and terribly pulled back into the mountains. Remembering that she had a small house in Khadzhokh, without thinking twice, she left her business, packed her backpack, took her daughter in an armful and went to live in the village. And then it was January in the yard ...
What for? Why? - There is a rhythm here, work for oneself, life without values invented and imposed by society, there was an answer. Real life is here, outside the city and the hustle and bustle! Although at first Lena was afraid of her desires, she was afraid that she was not like everyone else, remaining not understood by her acquaintances and friends. Time passed, my soul was calm and good. Creative activities (souvenirs) began to bring in money. The daughter grew up and went to study in St. Petersburg, although she always thinks to return.
When I listen to such stories, it becomes easier for me myself that I am not the only one. «strange», if I'm not motivated by money, but completely different things: the sun, forest, fresh air, a simple but free life, when it's good to just be and enjoy the moment. In addition, as practice shows, it is never too late. change your life and start from scratch, move, even if there are children in your arms, and you are a woman, not a man.
Fossil hunters are not born
We were fortunate enough to see and touch the ammonites with our own eyes, as well as communicate with the person who is engaged in their search and processing. Evgeny, a former trolleybus driver in Maykop, once visited the mountains and found ammonite, and this determined his fate for a dozen years ahead. He moved from Maykop to Khadzhokh and now he has his own collection of fossils, even though you can open your own museum.
To be honest, until that moment I didn’t know anything about the existence of ammonites, I didn’t even know a word like that. It is hard to imagine that you are holding an object that is hundreds of millions of years old! I can't imagine 10 thousand years, but here everything is counted to millions. And after all, this is not just some kind of stone, this thing swam, crawled, lived its own life.
Of course, we touched everything, asked about the processing, and visited the workshop. Despite the fact that some of it goes for sale, there are a lot of exhibits, and there are enough untreated ones so as not to get bored all winter.
Everything is real!
Actually, there is nothing to add. Everything is real! The main thing is just to want and understand what you want to do :)
