Bang Niang Beach - the best in Khao Lak

Bang Niang Beach can be called the best of all the beaches of Khao Lak resort. The developed infrastructure will be enough for most vacationers, but at the same time it is not noisy.

The beach itself is wide and fringed with palms and casuarine trees, along the entire length you can find beach cafes, sun loungers and umbrellas, many hotels overlook their territory directly to the shore. This beach seemed to me a reasonable balance between civilization and the number of people.

Beach description

I liked the Bang Niang area the most. He's kind of cute, calm and tidy. There are many hotels and nicely decorated cafes here. This is the impression created.

From the Pechkasem highway, which runs along the coast, a street about a kilometer long, Bang Niang Beach Road, departs perpendicularly. Goes from the highway and straight to the coast. The main infrastructure of this resort town is concentrated along it and on the adjacent lanes. The same street divides the beach itself into two conventional parts: north and south.

From where Bang Niang Road faces the sea, and further north (to the right), there are stone embankments and concrete walls that strengthen the coast (shown in the photo), alternating with beach stripes. The walls form terraces with access to the seaside hotels and cafes. At high tide in the area of these hotels, the sea comes close to the coast and it will not work to walk on the water.

In the northernmost part of Bang Niang, concrete ends and gives way to palm trees. This is the end of Soi 1, a street that is parallel to the sea. The place is quite secluded, little infrastructure, desolation, there is rubbish. There are few swimmers in the sea, but there are many who walk. The favorite pastime of vacationers during low tide is to walk along the beach past hotels, from south to north and back..

There are newly built bungalow-type houses right on the shore, a palm grove grows, there are sun loungers with umbrellas for rent and massage in the shade under thatched canopies. The northern part of Bang Niang beach ends with a river, further beyond which there is an even more northern and deserted khuk khak beach.

The southern part of the beach, to the left of Bang Niang Road (photo near the pontoon bridge), I liked the most. Here the sand is yellow and fine, without stones and shells, the beach strip is very wide, and it is not a problem to swim even at low tide. A little further south there are large black boulders in the water and then a river, behind which begins Nang Ton beachG.

Entering the water, depth and waves

The northern part of the beach is shallow and rather muddy at low tide. In the southern part, the beach is wide, and at low tide the strip of sand becomes even wider, the sea near the coast is shallow, but after walking a little further in the water, you can already swim. The shore goes into the water at a perceptible angle, so that during high tide, the depth increases quickly. Big waves occur in this area during the summer season..

The most comfortable section of the beach is in the area where the Ramada Khao Lak Resort is located. Further south of the beach, a ridge of black boulders goes into the sea. However, they do not interfere with swimming and walking on the beach..

Sun beds and shade

In the northern part of the beach, behind the hotels near the stone embankments, there are more palms and broadleaf trees. There are also sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, houses of masseurs in the shade.

In the southern part, near the pontoon bridge and hotels, there are also sun loungers with umbrellas for rent, palms and casuarine trees also grow, which give shade in the morning, since the sun rises just behind them in the morning. By noon, the shadows almost disappear, and closer to sunset, the sun shines from the sea and there is no natural shadow on the beach.

Shops and attractions

Of the attractions in the beach area, there are several temples, Tsunami Museum, as well as a transvestite show and various pleasant cafes on the shore and in the depths.

There are many cafes and shops around the main street of Bang Niang. In general, the resort infrastructure in Bang Niang is quite developed. There is a market on the highway and 7/11. The market is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from about lunchtime until dusk.

Houses and hotels on the beach

Most of the small hotels in Bang Niang are not located along the sea, but on parallel streets along the main Bang Niang Beach Road, which runs from Pechkasem highway to the sea. Cheaper accommodation can be found on the highway, I lived there in 813 Hostel (although this is a hotel).

But then he moved to a quiet place in inexpensive bungalows The garden 10 minutes walk from the sea. It is better to look at the current housing prices on a search engine, they depend on the season.

I would advise you to stop approximately in the middle of Bang Niang Road, just near the The Garden hotel, there is a cluster of all cafes and hotels for every taste, and the sea is nearby and to the highway / market / 7-11 not far.

But if you do not want to go to the sea, then check into Ramada Khao Lak Resort and Mukdara Beach Villa & Spa Resort, or near them on the first or second line from the beach.

In the northern part of the beach along Soi 1, there are also enough hotels on the first line, but I would not settle too far from Bang Niang Road, otherwise I will have to walk a lot. Hotels on the first line and with good territory: Chongfah Resort Khao Lak, Casa De La Flora, and in principle The Nest Box Khaolak Resort .

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on the excellent Roomguru service. He will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

For the lazy, here are the direct links to the hotels listed above:

How to find the beach

The beach can be accessed along the main road Bang Niang Road from Pechkasem highway, without turning anywhere. Then you will be taken to the part of the beach with reinforcing concrete walls. Then you can turn right onto Soi 1 and move along it to enter the beach through any cafe, resort, or lane.

Alternatively, you can turn off Bang Niang Road into one of the parallel side streets just behind the hotel. Rabeang Guest House, and get to the beach south of the main street, where there is no concrete.

Bang Niang Beach
The best beach in Khao Lak in my opinion. There is enough infrastructure, but still few people. The point is located approximately in the middle of the beach, concrete fences begin on the right hand (facing the sea), and you need to go to the side for several hundred meters. On the left is a great bathing beach.
