Bangkok Royal Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha
There is actually a lot to see and do in Bangkok and its suburbs. I already wrote about the ancient capital of Sukhothai (6 hours from the city) and about our one-day a walk in Bangkok, and now about the only place where we managed to go before flying to Moscow, about the Royal Palace in Bangkok.

Royal Palace in Bangkok
This complex will be of interest primarily to those who have seen little or nothing in Thailand. A large number of typical Thai architecture in one place and the ability to quickly get acquainted with the culture of Thailand in a few hours. But after we had seen enough of a dozen Buddhist temples, we were not very interested. That is, of course, everything is dazzlingly beautiful ... But we prefer quieter places.
Most of all, this huge number of excursions causes inconvenience, such that you want to escape from the crowd. Perhaps our mistake was that we did not go there in the morning, but in the midst of the day (then I was there also in the morning, everything is the same). Although perhaps this is just our attitude towards crowded attractions. Because all the sites of travel agencies are full of messages that they say you need to get there anyway.

By the way, the Buddha himself could not be seen inside. There is a very large flow of people, everyone is pushing. Plus the security guard saw that I was trying to take a photo, made me delete all the photos, I had to retreat.

Information to visit
Surely, not far from the entrance to the palace, you will meet some tuk-tuker, convincing you that today the royal palace is closed, and, they say, you can see a very excellent temple instead. Don't get fooled!
Also, in front of the entrance to the Royal Palace complex, Thais will catch you, show you a picture that you are not dressed correctly, and sell you some kind of rag. Indeed, the style of clothing must match, but everything can be rented for free in the house on the right immediately after the gate..
The Royal Palace in Bangkok is Buddhist temples, pagodas, galleries, the royal library, throne rooms located on the same territory not far from Khaosan Road. The royal family does not live here, but only appears at some kind of ceremony. They began to build this whole thing at the end of the 18th century according to the prototype the ancient capital of Ayutthaya. The area of the complex occupies more than 200 thousand sq m.
- The cost of visiting the Royal Palace in 2011 was 350 baht, in 2012 400 baht, in 2013 500 baht.
- Clothes need closed (shoulders and knees) and not tight
- Shoes should cover the heel (although I rolled ordinary sandals, but with a closed toe)
- You cannot take pictures inside the temple of Wat Phra Kaew (I was caught and forced to delete all photos inside the temple)
