Riviera Resort Park is the most popular amusement park in Sochi. It was founded by an entrepreneur and honorary citizen of the city, Vasily Khludov, in 1898 in the city center, on the right bank of the Sochi River. In Soviet times, the park was a meeting place and a walk for holidaymakers. Today the park has been declared an object of historical and cultural heritage of Sochi and a landscape and architectural monument of regional significance. Its area is about 15 hectares. Now in the park you can see a huge number of attractions; on the territory there is also a sports town, a karting track, a library, an exhibition hall, a cinema, an oceanarium, dolphinarium, night club.

Concerts, shows and entertainment programs are held at the city's second most important concert venue, the Park's Green Theater. This is an open-air hall located in the center of the park. The theater was built in 1959 and has a capacity of 1600 visitors. Next to the Green Theater is the Avenue of Stars, laid in honor of the 100th anniversary of the park. Tui of this alley were planted by pop stars and singers.
Since Soviet times, the park has been decorated with small sculptures and sculptural compositions. For example, «Fallow deer with cub», established in the 1930s, «Fairy of flowers», «Leopard» and «Lion cubs». In the early 1960s, a pond appeared in the park, repeating the shape of the Black Sea. A sculpture is installed in the center of the reservoir «Herons». Modern sculptures in the park include «A Crow and a fox», bench «Beavers», «Thumbelina», «Dachshund», «Lovers' shop». There are several fountains in the park. The largest is located on the Central Alley, next to «Bench of Reconciliation». Another famous fountain «Stone Flower» can be seen in the drinking pump room with mineral water «Plastunskaya».
In addition to park details, such as the Bench of Reconciliation or the Fountain of Love, a large number of exotic plants, shrubs and flowers have been planted on the territory. Here you can see cedars, larch trees, magnolias, fan palms - more than 240 species, including several dozen rare ones. Lush flowerbeds of roses, sakura, magnolias of the Alley of Astronauts and Glades of Friendship, gazebos and benches make the park lively, shady and pleasant to walk.
However, Riviera Park is visited mainly for attractions, because as a place for walking, it is a stretch. In the season, it’s not so crowded at all. It is better to take a walk in city squares, like Tsvetnoy Boulevard, along the embankment of the river and the sea.
